Pitched DIE and Brindlewood Bay to my players and so far the votes are 3-1 in favour of DIE. Definitely surprised.

Where did you get this? ๐
Haven't tried Savage Worlds but I do own it, because Kieran told me it had a fantastic system for hindrances!
On my path to getting medicated. Looking forward to getting to this point
2024 is the year of shorter adventures and more games.
Campaigns are awesome but having run a 2-year and 3-year campaign I'm not looking for epic play right now.
I'm going to run DIE and Brindlewood Bay and wrap them both up in under 8 sessions. Variety is the spice of life.
Couldn't sleep earlier this week so I wrote up my journey on moving on from 5E and discovering other games.
Sounds like you been a fantastic parent
Sumatra on Windows is definitely the best
Reading the A Song of Ice and Fire rulebook today for a bit of inspiration
I came to this realisation like a week ago!
And it is, 5E is infinitely worse off without Matt Colville, MCDM, Critical Role, etc. And I don't think the hobby really does a lot to make people who do genuinely love 5E, and either don't want to try or have tried other games and prefer 5E, feel overly welcome. I'm certainly guilty of that.
I'm trying to write "the script" for my next video- but all I can think about is that damn thread by Ben Riggs!
He's wrong, but I wonder if folks saying that are missing the point. That there are plenty of folks out there who feel like Ben, that 5E - the game they loved, is worse off. 1/2
I read the silly post about exaggerated end of TTRPG's golden age. Not much to say about it, but I truly wish people udnerstood two very critical points:
- consumers =/= community
- The hobby's purchasing audience isn't a zero-sum game
Incidentally I would 100% make this my mission to buy all 1st edition at this point but that's because I'm as much a collector as a GM!
Uneventful meetings are the most dangerous I've found!
Mork Borg is absolutely gorgeous and is fantastic at teaching the rules *but* I find it kind of impractical to consult at the table.
Which might be excusable, because the ruleset is so small, but I felt one way about it reading it and I soured on it a bit once I actually played it.
Finishing a three RPG campaign I've been running for 3 years tomorrow!
Spent all day flip flopping between procrastinating and planning.
I have no idea what will happen. Hopefully good things?
One of the things I love about the RPG (and board game!) space is how people see this as a shared hobby. I've had a ton of really helpful recommendations, advice, and encouragement from people who have been playing a lot longer than I have.
I've made perhaps my best video so far. Of course that doesn't mean I perfected the YouTube algorithm, if anything I think I did the opposite.
If you're interested in adventure design or just even my dumb face in the thumbnail I'd love to know if you got anything out of it.
Flippin' proud of this video!
Definitely the best edited and best delivered video I've put together yet.
Worth a watch if you were interested in Fantasy Adventure Builder during the Kickstarter, have a penchant GM tools, or are just curious why the thumbnail has me pulling this face.
Also thank you so much! I think production value is super important so I spend a lot of time on it (hence I only put out a video a month!)
I know exactly what you mean! That's actually one of the criticisms I have about the book and one of the reasons I was so interested in Fantasy Adventure Builder!
This video doesn't go into too much depth but I'd love to put together a sort of sequel building out an adventure using it!
The self promotion is a little shameless here but it's definitely the kind of that I'd want on my feed if I ran D&D or any other TTRPG!

I'm convinced no one at HMRC has actually had to use HRMC phonelines or the website, ever.
"VTT" - more just online play.
I'm making Dragonbane work over VTT using Schmeppy. regular character sheets, and a Discord bot.

I know a lot of folks here on BlueSky don't play D&D 5E actively any more but if you do I'd encourage you take a look at @slyflourish.com's latest newsletter. It has done a fantastic job of articularing why I moved away from D&D Beyond (and ultimately 5E).
If you were caught in the Hasbro layoffs or know someone affected, I'd love to chat about the experience and atmosphere within the company. I protect my sources and will report your story with care and no corportate interference.
