Was very surprised that you beat the Blaze! Will reflect a bit more in today’s CRICKETher Weekly episode.

I don’t follow the men’s game but in this case she didn’t use the bat, it was checked before she faced a ball so no advantage was gained. Was that also the case in those men’s examples?
A bat gauge. And I assume yes, but don’t know why the bat wasn’t checked before the game.
If it also fails this, Surrey will be subject to a Level 1 penalty for the rest of the Women's One-Day Cup.
No points will be deducted, but if 2 further offences were to occur within the same season, Surrey would be subject to a £1,000 fine.
BREAKING:
Having failed the on-field test in today's match against Durham, Kira Chathli's bat then also failed the post-match test by the match referee (i.e. it didn't go through the bat-gauge).
The bat will now be passed to the Cricket Regulator where it will undergo a third test.
Good way of putting it.
A fine century from Hollie Armitage for Durham v Surrey at The Oval.
Needs to go on though - this looks like a cracking pitch and Durham will need to score at least another 100 runs in the next 12 overs to put themselves in a winning position.
When she scores runs, she's definitely one of my favourites.
When she doesn't score runs, I blame @syd-e13.bsky.social for over-egging her.
Dan Norcross has his leg up on the table, showing off rainbow socks to Mark Church, who looks both amused and slightly baffled in the background.
When you turn on the @kiaoval.com live stream and are greeted by this.

Some Friday afternoon fun from the women's cricket archive...
2014, Sylhet: Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry lead what the ICC tried to claim was a "flash mob".

Well they literally just got married so they would have had to request that she move her wedding date which probably wouldn’t have gone down well…
This is my view too. The wedding pics are on Instagram. We’re not stupid!
ECB line regarding Amy Jones missing this chunk of cricket is that her workload is “being managed”.
However Lauren Winfield-Hill has rather let the cat out of the bag on the Wisden podcast, saying publicly that Jones is on honeymoon 👀
I hope someone thought to give LWH a concussion check, amidst all the drama!
Hampshire have massively got away with that one. Conceded 354 v Warwickshire but rain causes match to be abandoned.
The dark underbelly of women's cricket's growth.
A grim read - but an important one.
Don't switch off! @rafnicholson.bsky.social is on the innings break on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra
🏏
Does a T20 century not count as extraordinary?! Have you seen many?
Wisden themselves did something similar to this last year although it was the Leading Woman, not the 5. You might struggle to get 5 some years if you used the same "English summer" criteria because there was so little cricket played.

It's a great idea. I've been a bit busy with my own book but maybe we should have a chat to Lawrence Booth!
Really disappointing that BBC’s Today programme failed to even ask Lawrence Booth about the lack of a woman in the Wisden Five. Deepti Sharma also not mentioned as the Leading Female Cricketer. If you listened to that segment you might well come away thinking women don’t play cricket at all.
The fact that the Wisden Five can all be men, but would never be 5 women, should tell us something.
"the soulless Travelodge" - rude!
😂
It’s really a shame that Anna Buckle (of Sussex) and Megan Belt (of Kent) aren’t playing on the same team.
Meg Austin, on loan from Warwickshire, lights up Tier 2 with a century for Northants v Kent.
The ins and outs of the loan system are still a bit iffy, but this seems like a good use of it.
The BBC would have to pay them then, rather than the counties. Unfortunately my perception is that the BBC are parochial about these things and they only want “their people” being broadcast.
Totally agree.
The galling bit is that for years the BBC’s mantra was “we cover every ball of county cricket live”. Then the women appear and suddenly… “oh no we couldn’t possibly”.
Yeah that’s a fair point.
Naomi Dattani finishes it off as Hampshire take the win v Essex with 2 balls to spare.
Perhaps the real winner, though, is Freya Kemp, who has done her World Cup cause a lot of good with a knock of 46 off 43 from #4. (Charlotte Edwards here at the Utilita watching on.)
