Though to my credit, I’m already at 170k words, which is like two books worth of material easy. I just… have a scope problem.

I’m so close to finishing my first draft. It feels a little silly to be 34 and getting excited when this is really a long overdue goal I’ve wanted since I was 12. But late is better than never!

I think my FAVORITE thing about this are "the difference is" tabs at the top. That does SO MUCH to help identify where my decks land. For example, all of my decks have lots of efficient staples. But almost NONE of them are very fast. So I'd been struggling about whether they're 3s or 4s. Now I know.

As a professional, I get that agents/editors just can't trust or sell a debut with a book that's too long without serious extenuating circumstances. I just wish that, somehow, was a special little bean or something.

Every time I think about how my manuscript's word count makes it basically DOA for querying, I get sad. But then I remind myself this first book has always been about proving I can finish something. That helps a little.

Reached the end of act 2 in my WIP manuscript. Already have entirely too many words, but I’m proud to have gotten this far. I’m so close to finally finishing something after chasing that feeling for 20 years.
