Someone should write a piece on this There’s no hockey equivalent to a starting rotation for one thing, nor baseball’s reliance on chance. Getting “pumped up” counts a lot more in hockey than baseball (in fact it is a liability), etc. But in Canada hockey will always be the paradigm for most fans.

When you treat something like kryptonite you create conditions for abuse, including from reactionary fundamentalists.

It would scare secular liberals but I think the antipathy to any religious or biblical literacy in the name of separation of church and state is really problematic. There should be a way of presenting it that’s non-sectarian and non-proselytizing.

Seems to me that last year we also saw some soft teams in the schedule that we ended up losing to, but then we reeled off a bunch of wins against good teams. It’s baseball.

I also find it helpful to assume that the manager always knows more than I do, not only because of their experience but also because they have access to the kind of information I never will.

We’ve got till the trade deadline to evaluate. I’m more worried about getting Vladdy going and addressing Okamoto’s striking out.
