Respect. We only did eighteen and I'm exhausted. Didn't see any TacoBells but did see a whole bunch of tourists milling about and two really big boats.

When I push the button to load new posts on Bluesky I prefer when it goes MMMVOOCHK over when it goes FLIFLIFLITHUK. (It doesn't actually make a noise but those are what it looks like they should sound like.)
The high-drama me in the shower: FUCK THIS COLD SHOWER! I HATE MY LIFE! I'M GONNA BURN THE WHOLE HOUSE DOWN!
Me later, after some coffee and pancakes: I think the mixing cartridge in the handle must have worn out so it's letting cold water through both sides now. Guess it's time to replace it.
Greco is my go-to because sometimes I love a long walk and an after dinner cappuccino. And they started serving this yummy gluten free almond cake... Okay...now seriously considering changing my plans.
I didn't hear the album but did see the video of this song she did at Abbey Road a few days ago, and DAMN! It was exactly what I needed at the time.
Videos of Crash Worship shows on YT never look as fun as actually being there was. ...although maybe 'fun' isn't really the right word for it.
This doesn't have to be something with as high stakes as a lunar mission team. I understand the feeling in another context because that's how the band I play with, Split Window works together. That's why I've played with them for over ten years.
Thought for a minute this was a Laurie Anderson reference and then I saw who posted it!
I wrote a new website post about crossing paths with a certain famous bass player who now plays trumpet.

Gallant Knight, once you have slain the mighty dragon you will happily return to your life as it always was before the terrible times: eating cold cereal for dinner and trying to make real friends.
Joe Frank (spoken word) at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.
I actually took a vacation! You can't have it back. It's mine now.
Warakubune! Yay!
This song gave me really good "Forever" era Cranes vibes.
Wayback moment: I locked myself out of my Tercel at band practice and our drummer, who had a much older Tercel than mine said, "Try my key." I did. It worked!
The little red trumpet on those three or four songs with the small band playing on Front Street this afternoon...yep, that was me. I'm working on my comeback. Hopefully I can work up to be ready for at least most of Split Window's summer schedule this year. Yay!
Can't sing it without crying so guess I can't do it? Well, howzabout I get someone else to sing it? Problem solved!
Never had this issue when all I did was play trumpet on everything.
Falling asleep is just like remembering how to ride a bike. Unless you have a bad case of biker's insomnia, or you can't lie down without putting the training wheels back on the bed. You know what? Falling asleep is really nothing like remembering how to ride a bike.
If you ever need a cardiologist mine fits your requirements.
Wind snapped one of our bristlecones. The treetop flew thirty feet into the power line. That ripped the mast and meter right off the house. All in all an interesting way to be awakened at five in the morning.
I love listening to you talk about your glorious past. I notice sometimes how I remember things differs wildly from how you do, but as we approach the dying years who am I to deprive you of your sugar coated memories? Sure, honey. Of course you were there. Front row! I'll just take your word for it.
After almost a year recovering from my health crisis I'm starting to see a path back to playing regularly again. I can do a show once in a while now but it utterly destroys me, so I've started short, easy practice sessions (as often as my body will allow) to rebuild. Yay!
The instant I saw that image I thought, Aphex Twin. So I think I'll go listen to The French Toast Man by Fred Lane now to celebrate.
"Water is the milk of the future."
(Odd turn of phrase I'll grant you, but it was actually said with those exact words in that particular order in a real conversation between a few acceptably reasonable people this evening. I can verify it because I was one of them.)
"Weren't we beautiful once?
And weren't we the beautiful ones?
I promise we were, I promise we were"
- Son Lux (All Directions)
The Logical Song
When he starts repeating the lyric over and over at the end of the many live versions of Don't Give Up I have always sang along with it as "donkey butt". Please forgive me, @itspetergabriel.bsky.social!
As cold as that bike ride was, I kept thinking it should be too cold and snowy right now to ride at all. #Mountains #Climate
Ditto for playing that album enough to memorize from start to finish. I even arranged Take You On A Cruise for brass quintet as a project to keep myself busy while my partner was recovering in hospital some years ago.
Ma Rainey hit pretty hard in 1924 with her recording of See See Rider. Most cover versions rewrote it as an upbeat, often gender reversed blues omitting the homicidal last verse.
