While the president’s budget has always been viewed as a proposal to Congress in past years, the current Administration’s efforts to assert control over federal funding through the termination of grants, withholding of federal funds, and reprogramming is unprecedented.

📌Ruby Ibarra uses storytelling to share her story as a Filipina immigrant in the U.S. and connect the Filipino diaspora.
📌Kumu Hina is a Native Hawaiian transgender activist, cultural bearer working to foster understanding and acceptance, as she works to preserve Native Hawaiian culture, language and traditions.
As we close out #WHM we leave you with examples of sheroes who fought for belonging and equal opportunity for their communities, their children, and all of us.

That’s what NORC and the Committee of 100 found after recently polling 2,021 people nationwide.

✨Cecilia Cruz Bamba was a legislator, and the first Indigenous woman from Guam to testify before Congress, fighting for the Chamorro people who were injured, killed, and lost land due to WWII.
✨Grace Lee Boggs was a philosopher, author, community organizer, civil rights icon & more. She fought for safe and affordable housing, anti-poverty measures, workers’ rights, Black power, and civil rights. A leading thinker, she also focused on building community & empowering youth of color.

✨Tye Leung Schulze grew up in poverty with 7 other siblings but became a pioneer on many fronts. She was the first Asian woman to vote in America, the first Chinese woman employed by the federal government, and a champion for women’s reproductive rights.
For #WomensHistoryMonth we’re sharing this group of sheroes who exhibit many of these themes, but we specifically want to highlight their fight for freedom and democracy.
