I know, in 2024, there was a much higher White voter turnout for Trump and his fascism (while the overall Black turnout was lower, of those that voted, something like 83% voted for Harris)

You might consider the institutional failures & systemic reasons why Black voting is suppressed/depressed…

MLK and Rosa Parks were part of just one strand in a rich and nuanced civil rights/resistance movement

Black people are fighting against institutional racism & violence in numerous ways, and those that choose to do so by voting are doing so in a much higher proportion despite greater challenges…

That is true, but it doesn’t erase the systemic presence of white supremacy, white privilege, and the short attention of white people to institutional racism and oppression

Even MLK’s critiques of white liberals and moderates, including after the death Goodman & Schwerner, still resonate today

Whatever the number, I wouldn’t blame none-voting African Americans for Trump, considering the legacy of systemic exclusion and intimidation, institutional resource and accessibility gaps, and decades of disappointment with many turning outside the political system created by anti-Black racists

I am sure you can do your own research, though be careful with the data as a lot of sources conflate people who sat out the election with those effectively disenfranchised

I do know that African Americans had a much higher turnout voting against Trump than their European American counterparts

If we are going to keep this legal regime, then we need to name predatory capitalism for what it is…

When you consider that Trump is the biggest social media icon, probably of all time, we need as much help resisting as we can get…

On the other hand, social media elites often drown out the voices of real people on the ground sacrificing to make a change… maybe they should be elevated?
