Congrats on being a reviewer
Read it last year in a group. I loved it and was constantly reading up on the storage and encoding topics. Some in the group with less experience struggled because they didn’t find it applicable to everyday work. Definitely recommended to anyone curious how things work
It’s so simple, but easy to forget all the positives. Your colleagues really gave you a gift that day
Silence the notifications, wait a couple of weeks and guess what happens next. I miss the old Twitter
What in the…
Not sure it matters if you fill out the form. Ask me how I know
Done this a couple of times now. Skip the 3rd party library and AI implements what you need. Fewer dependencies, fewer vulns. I’m sure there is a downside to this, I’ll find out in a couple of years
You’ve already reviewed and refactored. You can likely explain it to someone after that. This is the way
I thought it was a young Prince but the body didn’t look the same. Dropping the back knee and the sweeping follow through… Brings back memories
Really good advice, nothing too complicated - as it should be. Rethinking how I can use my time has completely changed everything
You’re absolutely right
The contrast of the colors is amazing
This is awesome. I had to see the about page to see you did this. Happy to see htmx in the wild
Are you working more on the same amount of stuff. Or working more but getting more done?
That went places I wasn’t expecting. Loved how you didn’t try to convince me to one side or the other, instead bringing it back to utility, meaning, and efficiency
Thanks. I’ll have to go back and give it another try
I think you were the reason I went all in on Bluesky in late 2024. I remember doing so much extra work to filter out noise and nonsense and then had enough of it.
There are still a few accounts a check in on Twitter, but I check them less often lately
New AI experience today
Copilot took about 30 minutes in what would normally take a day or more to code
Found out 15 minutes into testing that I missed a subtle but major blindspot in the data. Backing out the code was trivial
I didn’t lose a day of writing code
ps. there are other lessons too
I’m sorry to hear that ☹️
Amp costs more when I use it full time and I’ve had limited experience with Claude code. Are you seeing that much difference in code quality? Is this in greenfield apps or adding to existing apps? So many questions, but genuinely curious
I only check a couple times a week to hear from a few tech people. I’ve seen the notification setting get reset on app updates. Yeah, that place changed
Bring it. I love hearing about it and talking about it. Definitely the biggest disruption to programming in my lifetime
Ranch
Lovely New Year’s Day at the beach in Milwaukee. Climbed over the ice shelf for my first polar plunge in Lake Michigan
That’s gotta be the coolest black & white site I’ve seen
Bill I love hearing this from someone with your experience.
Best time of the year to get a few things done
