In February 1777, General George Washington ordered the first mass immunization campaign in American history by mandating that his troops be inoculated against smallpox. He protected the Continental Army from an epidemic that was deadlier than British forces.
249 years later, we have this idiot.
I miss when these kinds of headlines had all the evangelical conservatives screaming "mark of the beast👿👹!!!" instead of "must follow Dr Trump Jesus no matter what🙏"

I somehow missed this 10 years ago, but today I learned that Gaelynn Lea not only exists and shares beautiful music with the world, but also just released a memoir.
If you'll excuse me, I need to go practice 🎻 and then listen to her audiobook 🎧
Why aren't we doing this?
I did some research to try and figure out when my death date would be if there had been no treatment for my cancer. I don't know why I assumed it would be some date in the future, but, in fact, I passed the middle of the "no treatment survival" bell curve more than a year ago. Thanks chemo.
"There is no justification for a regressive system in which the super-rich contribute less than the rest of us," write @josephestiglitz.bsky.social, @gabrielzucman.bsky.social, and @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social.
This is niche, but I'm dying 🤣
Dune was literally a warning against charismatic strongmen and the unholy marriage of church and state, not a guidebook for world politics 🤦♀️
The coldest of hot takes, honestly. Really depressing that we can't all easily agree on this point.
It's almost like pride is a deadly sin or something, idk
"Everyone who is proud and arrogant in heart is disgusting and exceedingly offensive to the Lord; Be assured he will not go unpunished." - Proverbs 16:5, AMP
(Face blurred for your mental health 🙏)
A huge increase in calls to the GI Rights hotline, most of them referencing the girls' school bombing and asking about the conscientious objector process, is a giant red alert 🚨 about the cultural health of the US military 🪖

Also this:
So to be clear, the current situation with NATO is:
- US starts a war they can't control
- US realizes they actually do need allies sometimes
- Allies say they can't help this time
- US decides allies are stupid and who needs them anyway
I wrote and posted this to Instagram a couple of days ago and it became my most-read poem ever. I’m honored I get to feel big feelings alongside you all. I’m posting it here too and want to use this space more consistently. Hello friends ❤️
The pressure campaign is working. The USDA Forest Service just spoke out, attempting to explain what they’re calling “fact vs. fiction.” Don’t trust this administration, all they do is lie. They know they’re losing businesses are pulling away, and everyone is speaking out.
Still waiting for the "but what if we accidentally include 'illegals' in the automatic draft registration!?" outrage, but somehow I don't think it's coming.
Orders to commit war crimes are ILLEGAL and MUST BE DISOBEYED. It is literally codified in the USMC.
The men or women who are handed orders to carry out genocide must refuse them.
Until I bomb them into the Stone Ages
Wow.
This is literally the current logic on the political right. I wish this were hyperbole.
To everyone celebrating Easter, Michelle and I wish you a joyful holiday filled with reminders of the enduring power of faith and hope.
The emperor has no clothes.
Time for the #25thAmendment. Congress and the Cabinet must act.
From a year ago...
It is crazy how few people know this:
Russia now occupies less Ukrainian land than it did one month into the full-scale invasion four years ago
Someone sent me this.
I believe all the "he can't be sexist, he has women in his cabinet" people owe the rest of us an apology.
"When Charlie Kirk died, Trump and his sycophants demanded punishment for anybody who spoke ill of him...
Fast forward to Robert Mueller’s death, Trump said “Good I’m glad he’s dead.” That tells you everything you need to know.
They don’t want decency. They want obedience."
