Newest #watercolor is Gonshuilong! Colors loosely inspired by the Sailfin Dragon (lizard) which I used to work with when I was a zookeeper. #paleoart 🦕🎨

I actually painted the Muttaburrasaurus too. With the new long narrow snout and front teeth plus the short arms I can’t not think this dinosaur looks like a big Thescelosaurus relative. #paleoart

In light of the new Muttaburrasaurus paper. This is all I can see basically. And now you can’t unsee it either.

Agreed. I remember someone brought a roadkill fox into the biology lab back at Rutgers when I was undergrad and we totally looked at the baculum. It was really interesting for a bunch of animal nerds. There’s plenty of actually bad things to criticize this guy for.

So much money be thrown at the worthless vacuum that is A.I.

So little money be thrown at the more worthy goal of figuring out how to give us the abilities of Animorphs

The Lizard in the River — Riley Black A large tooth indicates that big mosasaurs, over 30 feet in length, swam the same rivers where dinosaurs like T. rex and Triceratops drank.

We used to call mosasaurs "marine reptiles." Then we found out that many of the giant lizards swam through rivers, too.

Last week's article, on a mosasaur that swam where T. rex drank, is up on my blog.

The Lizard in the River A large tooth indicates that some of the largest lizards of all time slid through rivers in the land of T. rex and Edmontosaurus.

Mosasaurs as long as an adult T. rex swam through Cretaceous rivers. The lizards weren't there by accident or aberration. They lived there.

My daughter’s first comment was “where’s the longneck?” and that’s totally valid. Also “protoavis” is there lol. Also rhino triceratops.

Typical interaction between Lucia, my daughter(4) and someone’s kid who’s “obsessed with dinosaurs”

L: My daddy has a Pachycephalosaurus head because he’s bald.

DO: TREX RAAAR

L: Do you like Diplodocus? It has a long tail!

DO: TREX STOMP RAAAAR!!!

Wonder if anyone who worked on Netflix The Dinosaurs has seen my art from 2013? That “cheeky psittacosaurus” was featured in “All Your Yesterdays” downloadable book.

The fact that she’s essentially a dinosaur with boobs is the only thing that is weird/unpopular about her and I get it.

Newest watercolor is Yi, the weird (even by dinosaur standards)bat-winged feathered baby-dragon-lookin theropod. I sketched this pose with a red marker on a scrap of lined paper like 10 years ago and finally decided to paint it this week.

Forgot to share this from Saturday in the paleo lab. Finished prepping this rib chunk from what is likely a nodosaur. (Don’t sleep on Maryland dinosaurs)
