There's a huge amount of inspiration to be found around us, especially once you start looking outside of the normal places.

Doing fantasy? Don't just look at Sanderson and Tolkien. Go watch some fucking mecha anime, go read horror novels, think outta the box.

See, that's the perfect spot for a super solider.

If you're stuck with pike and shot warfare, a guy that can sprint through the line and rip people to pieces? Worth a hundred normal soldiers.

Same. Unfortunately that's more a matter of people learning to think outside of the box, and managing to change the way you look at things is tricky.

As an example, something I think more folks should use in fantasy? Modified super soldiers.

Why wouldn't some mage make a Captain America for a war?

This is a big thing I actually recommend basically no matter the TTRPG setting / theme.

There's always someone looking to offer you a deal that's too good to be true. Sometimes there's a caveat to it.

Othertimes, the power itself *is* the caveat, and will change you completely through its usage.

Prompt for the GMs, writers, and worldbuilding folks out there;

Explain your setting's plot to me in as little words as possible.

Bonus points if you manage to pique my interest.

For example, for the next campaign I'll be streaming / recording, I'd say;

"Player characters get hired as cops, then learn that one, that's not a good thing, and two, they aren't really cops. ACAB still applies."

Mark my words I will die on the hill that bad photoshop > ai. And until Iโ€™m 98 years old I WILL continue to make badly edited memes that look like they were put together by clipping out magazine photos and gluing them together. I will NEVER stop.

You get your TTRPG Creative Commons Fantasy races when the god that made them dies, and then its free fucking reign for everyone else.

See, I had a hunch it wouldn't survive the expectation of "1:1 Adaptation".

Granted, I don't think anything really does, not truly.

Tagging my girl @casicaviar.bsky.social because if there ever was someone else like me that fell perfectly into the Halo and TTRPG niches, its that damn elf.

...so has anyone considered making a TTRPG that is Halo-inspired?

I say Halo inspired because frankly anything Microsoft has their hands on at this point is trash, but like Halo 1 to Halo Reach inspired. Genetically modified soldiers, AI, aliens, space-cults, annoying AI balls, that kind of thing.

I can't think of an answer for that right now, but that is an excellent worldbuilding question!

"History is written by the victors" is a common turn of phrase. How Might this be a factor In your own world either benignly or maliciously. What facts have been lost to time or even attempted to have been scraped clean off the record to manipulate the world?

So one of my players, @heyimjill.bsky.social, drew up a recent encounter from our DnD game.

Here lies Dose, a man who by all means, should be dead, but is still forced to live due to the fungus that has infested him.

Kept alive for 237 years, 35 days, and 5 hours...

Five bucks says a news story breaks about Patel dying peacefully on the job, only for it to turn out later on that he choked on his own vomit or drove drunk.

It absolutely is, a TTRPG product pitch or two is totally fine. Because you know what people really like?

Genuine interactions and feeling like they're interacting with a human being. And we talk about what we make.

You know what people don't like?

Hearing products get pitched for a day straight.

The Fireflies is actually a pretty sick idea. I mean. Horrifying in its own way, they are using fire to kill people, but still. Cool idea.
