This is a tool states and counties use to incarcerate (which happens to create revenue) people - often marginalized people unable to mount a defense. It’s known to be faulty, but plea bargains happen all the time resulting in fines due.

Given the impact people have had on places like Target, it seems that’s the kind of thing our efforts should go to. It’s the only thing anyone listens to. They don’t “do right,” they protect assets.

Between my own 50+ huffing and puffing and my dad’s illness, I bought myself a rower. I despise gyms (more power to you if you dig them) for myself and need to retain some sense of dignity as I reclaim my body. It’s hard to fight through the emotional landscape these days, but feels vital.
