#OtD 23 Apr 1918 a massive general strike was held in Ireland in protest at the threat of conscription to the UK army, shutting down the country. Conscription was introduced but not one person was actually conscripted stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9529...
Can't find the source now, but on Twitter someone memorably summed up Mr Beast with "When I look in the eyes of Mr Beast I find myself believing in the concept of a soul, purely from witnessing its absence"

Japan didn't pass a law to promote Ainu cultural traditions until 1997. It then took until 2019 for a law officially recognizing the Ainu as indigenous. Critics argue the law still doesn't go far enough.

Michael Jackson supporters claim he's 1000% innocent but also frequently say "what kind of parent lets their kid sleep in a grown man's bed anyway?" which is a weird thing to say if they believe he was an innocent, sexually-normal fella.

An extremely average looking white man with a Nazi youth haircut and a ginger beard, looking like he's about to put on a horned Viking helmet and yell slurs at you.
Bluesky employees hating marginalized people makes a lot of sense when you realize that almost all of them look exactly the same.
For example, here's what why looks like.

It's always most important to listen to the actual victims when it comes to people exhibiting certain problematic/toxic/abusive behavior in public spaces.
Fandom discourse will only muddy that topic. It will no longer be about abuser vs victim and instead becomes about personalities.

tweet by JK Rowling Nothing's changed. I was being honest about how I feel about an individual trans woman I know, who was a gay man pre-transition, and who I met for the first time post-transition. Objectively speaking, she has physical characteristics that make it fairly obvious she wasn't born female, but she's a gentle, funny person I've never referred to as anything other than 'she' and 'her'. I find it perfectly easy to reconcile my fond feelings towards her, and my experience of her as someone with very female-coded energy, with a belief that she hasn't literally changed sex (and incidentally, she doesn't believe she's literally changed sex, either).
JK Rowling admitting that she won't be transphobic to you as a trans woman if you are "gentle" and "funny" and you have "female-coded energy."
What on earth is "female-coded energy"? Doesn't this strongly suggest that Rowling is a conservative woman who expects women to be a certain way?
