So, quit smoking by vaping?

Total nationalisation of the resources industry is key.
After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X.
This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. 🧵 (1/5)

Is Bluesky currently experiencing server issues? Images don’t seem to be loading consistently.
That’s not, y’know, GOOD for Bluesky.
But it also suggests that it isn’t primarily a culture problem.
(Though it’d still suggest we kind of need to be perfect just to beat the broader trend.)
It’s worth comparing now to last year, but also compare here to comparable sites.

The federal government's announced that the ACCC will be cracking down on price-gouging at petrol stations.
Which would be great news if the ACCC actually had the power to stop firms from price-gouging.
But they don't.

BTW, great episode again — especially liked the section on age checks.
As a side note, I just realised that there is a whole lot more regulation, somehow sailing under the radar under the “adult content” header (requiring age checks or verification), which came into effect in December and today.
Australians will have to verify their age to watch pornography from Monday. Here’s what you need to know
As to the “business” side of it, Twitter definitely has the numbers. Automated posts to other outlets such as Bluesky may provide some coverage and information flow, but sadly it’s mostly unidirectional — and interaction is what many love, something most likely unachievable.
