who knows, maybe in a few years someone'll fondly retell stories about your goofs
honestly this goes for other things. there was a really dank Super Metroid TAS years and years and years ago (yes, grandma, let's get you to bed) that used the 4 other player inputs to do a bunch of goofy "commentary" during the run
the only way it could be better is if it opened a little FAQ popup
this isn't a paid advertisement but if you haven't you should pobably go check out rubato. it's a goofy little 2d platformer collectathon but like. if you appreciate the kind of dumb humor that goes on here [gestures at account] i think you'll love it.

p.s. shoutouts to love2d.org for still having one for the konami code. (↑↑↓↓←→←→ⒷⒶ↵) i'll let you discover what it is
i think more websites should have cute/stupid easter eggs
but i've seen both, up to and including "i pasted this screenshot full of unlabeled hexadecimal output from an unlabeled diagnostic screen into ChatGPT and it told me what it all meant", which. deep sigh for our future
the one situation i think it works in is the latter, where you're effectively just asking an incredibly inefficient machine to randomly permute code until you get a match, basically machine learning but worse in every way
but apparently people have "success" with it, so
give your ai of choice some assembly code and ask it what it does, then accept it unquestionably
or give it some assembly and an executable/flags, and prompt it to keep trying to come up with c code that compiles into the assembly
I had to double-check too (there still isn't)
offset 0x25457CC in the demo executable
"... I will vandalise the rubato tcrf page with 100 cactuses ..."
the bartender from the town with no name squinting intensely
friend sent me a screenshot
me: is this real
them: it's real
i still had to go fuckin check

crashed the game when swapping the controller to port 2 so i could save, gg. that's two attempts at playing zelda 1 that ended prematurely.
Zelda 1, but link is on the left side of the screen, stuck in trees
accidentally screen wrapped myself
one of my ancient wishlist projects was getting a bunch of wifi-enabled thermometers and putting them around the house in various rooms, way back in vegas. wait 10 years and now bluetooth thermometers are $11 and homeassistant does all the heavy lifting. don't let your dreams be dreams
a chart of temperatures in our residence, showing them mostly steadily decreasing over the night
homeassistant lets me tickle my brain in fun ways, like "graphing the temperature of upstairs and downstairs via multiple different methods"
see if you can pick out:
- the two thermopro thermometers
- the nest thermostat
- the hue motion sensor (which has a thermometer, for some reason)

mid-game anti-piracy check where you need to put cranky to bed by reading him his favorite word from page 3 line 7 word 8 of the manual or the game locks up
a graph describing a two-dimensional partitioning of music game charts into seven distinct categories, based on the two orthogonal axes "fucks" and "sucks". - neither sucks nor fucks: "boring" - primarily does not suck, but also fucks: "highly recommended" - primarily fucks, but also does not suck: "most memorable" - primarily fucks, but also sucks: "connoisseur's choice" - primarily sucks, but also fucks: "it's important for charts to have identity." - primarily sucks, but also does not fuck: "tournament picks" - primarily does not fuck, but also sucks: "one glaring mistake, probably" dead center, representing apathy in both sucking and fucking, is also included in the "boring" category.
presenting my new "Sucking & Fucking" theory of music game charts, in the style of the political compass. no longer am I interested in hearing whether a chart is "good" or "bad". you have two axes...use them
arguably the even funnier thing is at first I just tried to detect it and print a "Unauthorized Cloudflare proxy! The real URL of this page is [...]", but it turns out cloudflare's cute service actually rewrites URLs to point back to itself. makes sense, but frustrating.
for about a week i quietly detected Cloudflare and served the anti-crawler page (zip bomb with links to more fake pages) and it has been fascinating watching that list filter out into wider crawl pools. it's pretty fascinating how far the web of shit goes
