I love the Olympics because people in my life know that I’m the figure skater / judge who can answer their questions.
My love language: making baked goods for people I care about 🤍
This isn’t just about where objects travel. It’s who gets to decide when, how, and for how long communities can access their own histories.
A loan assumes ownership, authority, and the right to take something back. It says: this is ours, but we’ll let you use it (for now). That keeps colonial power over other people’s heritage firmly in place.
Describing the “loan” of objects taken through colonial violence as “positive” or “very innovative” doesn’t hold up. It leaves the colonial system that put those objects there completely intact.

On this day 70 years ago, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus.
On display at UT Libraries are these sketches done by Beauford Delaney, which precede his Rosa Parks series. They include phrases like "Ain't getting up" and "I will not be moved."
