Goes for the first time to cool LGS and café where shelves of booster packs are prominently displayed at the counter.

Me waiting in line - Well I don't want the cool baristas to think I'm a loser by asking for a booster pack...

On this Superb Owl Sunday, I hope you join me in recognizing how delightful these creatures are in AND outside of MTG.
Cool owl facts:
- Owls' eyes are tube-shaped
- They can swivel their necks AND their toes
- Not all owls hoot
- A group of owls is called a parliament

I can't believe how many cards that are PERFECT for my Abuelo, Ancestral Echo deck are in this dang set.

Trying to build my first deck for #MTG commander as a newish player is great cuz I get to potentially spend 4x as much money on a deck that's probably 8x worse than any of the precons I already own which were designed by professional game designers and which I love playing.

I probably don't even need to say this, BUT. Me not posting about every nightmarish thing is not because I am not internally (or externally!) screaming multiple times per day, i just figure you heard about it from 100 other people posting about each new nightmare. I assure you, my soul is cracking.

Magic: The Hunting* should be

It seems to me like there's a big disconnect between the marketing and the set itself. When you actually dive into the story being told in the cards it feels much less shallow than it seemed like it would be early on, or what that awful trailer is making it out to be.

Since Magic: the Gathering is all about wizard violence, Magic: the Gathering should be a totally cooperative game about interplanar community building 🏘️

Big agree. I really miss the days before I developed "taste" when I could just pick up any random trash young-reader chapter book in the grocery store book aisle and have a great night of reading.

That sounds healthy as heck!! What do you think about the substack/newsletter style? It feels compelling to me!

Heard :\ I am just starting to kinda maybe get back in the game a little bit and I have no idea how to do it in a way that doesn't feel like it's going to tear my soul in half.
