^my own posts trending within the scene would interestingly also be a subset of that

I’d originally assumed it was more like: I’m following the chess GMs scene — whoa, there’s this post in the chess world that everybody in the GM scene is talking about.
I’d imagine in very large scenes trending posts would be very rare, and knowing when my own is trending in a scene becomes almost negligible. In small groups, I get it
How large do you expect scenes to be?
Trending: — I get notifications when my own post is trending within a scene, but not when other peoples’ posts are trending within a scene, I think. Isn’t that a bit more important for discoverability?
I think that’s it — let me know if there are ones I’m missing!
Because there’s only ~40 people right now and you can see the full list we’re not really feeling the pain of low discoverability. That changes when people are using the app more organically
a. Tags don’t link back to whoever is tagged when you click on them (at least for scenes; haven’t tried individuals)
b. Tagging is very hard — you have to know the handle - no indication of human name or indiv vs scene when trying to tag
6. Tagging — this can be powerful for discoverability, but is handicapped in two ways:
There’s a big gap in scene discoverability itself. The only two scenes I’ve found are the one I created, and @blueskyog.bsky.social . I don’t really know how I even found that one to be honest
5. Scenes
— this works great if you’re already following (or in) a scene. You’ll see trending posts that lead to organic discovery based on interests. Some good vitality potential there; however:
4. Off-platform: nothing facilitates this right now. I can’t copy my handle easily, and I can’t share an external link to my profile.
3. Digging — clicking on someone’s follow or follower lists: <bug> — this is currently limited to ten. If you click the “following” or “followers” button for someone
1. “Search” — strong because new people to follow are suggested (unclear if randomly or algorithm-driven)
2. Main feed — strongest; these come from your own follower interactions
Mapping all paths for discoverability:
That real human moment when someone’s leaving the bathroom, and you’re next in line.
You meet eyes.
Their eyes say: “I’m so sorry.”
Your eyes say: “I understand.”
