I cover migration and labor, so I have encountered many examples of the state sanctioned enslavement and trafficking of migrants. Today is maybe the most brazen recent example I’ve seen from the government.

The GOP is reassuring themselves by comparing this to Reagan’s recession soon after taking office. But that wasn’t due to his own crazed and erratic policies - it was mainly the consequence of the Fed raising rates all the way to 20% to crush 1970s inflation.
I am filled with contempt for the people who think this is an acceptable way for America to treat an ally. They deserve a ignorant, thuggish government, but regrettably they have inflicted it on all of us.
The scale of corruption being perpetrated right now is almost beyond the limits of imagination. This is just one example, almost certainly not the greatest.
