“The intent here is obvious. It’s to hollow out this agency and hand it to the resource extraction industry and prepare it for, potentially, the eventual transfer of our public lands to states.”

Because they were betrayed by an old friend named Avery Steven Steverson.
I think about this nearly every day.
I feel like a true horror fan now that I've seen Martyrs (2008) for a third (fourth?) time.

To be fair, don't people have the same problem with third-person?

My very modest goal of using my color pencils to color a page in one of my many coloring books has finally been reached. A win is a win.
Ah, the Hollywood VFX Shuffle!

I'm at the read-my-book-out-loud stage of writing.
Writing is reading one book an endless number of times and trying to see it with fresh eyes every time, even though your eyes are anything but fresh.
Fun fact! There's a whole community dedicated to jailbreaking and modding kindles. You don't need to settle for this.

"Remember when we told people to take shorter showers, while one pair of jeans took 7,000 liters of water to produce, the same amount one individual drinks in 5-6 years, yet did nothing about fast fashion."
This doesn't mean I want humor in everything, but works like Severance, Superman, and Project Hail Mary that risk being funny, even when it would be easier to play it straight, are a breath of fresh air when so much of entertainment feels stifling.
The idea that humor undercuts all other emotions and should be left out of movies seems to misunderstand human nature and how life works. It just feels like critics (professional and otherwise) telling creators to stop misbehaving.
I'm a fan of things like The Cabin in the Woods, Being John Malkovich, Up, Buffy, Everything Everywhere All at Once. I'm not the kind of person who needs their entertainment to be humorless. Superman and Project Hail Mary are two great recent examples. Movies can be fun and still have a brain.
Project Hail Mary's soundtrack is also wonderful.
Sincerely… NASA couldn’t have chosen a better team of people for this mission. They have been a bright light in the shadowy time here. It’s been a joy to watch.

Okay, I get it. We are desperate for hope.
Project Hail Mary was great filmmaking. I have a lot of other feelings, but I'll just let myself be hopeful for a bit. It feels nice.
we should have a third industry besides AI and gambling
HELL YES
we have got to get it together, in like twenty-four hours the astronauts are back
The cover of What We Can Know by Ian McEwan.
What We Can Know by Ian McEwan was not a win for me. Some solid prose, but I was hoping for surprise and revelation, and I guessed how this would play out a mile away.
I'm getting off the internet for a bit. I'm sure I'll come back to see if Iran still exists.
