Been feeling like this for a while & it’s enough to make you despair. The only thing I’ve found that works is to focus on the things you have control over. Relationships with friends & family. Keeping your local world ticking along. There is good out there, even when it doesn’t seem so.

Solid points for main roads, but your average suburban street might fare a bit better. Fruit trees could be assigned to particular berms so they’re maintained. I dunno what the perfect answer is, but it’s gotta be better than wasted space.

Controversial take: convert all berms to vege/fruit/plant/flower growing, with a limit on # of trees so emergency services can access properties. The state of the berms in Auckland these days, means that emergency services can’t get to most anyways 🤦🏻‍♀️ Might as well use ‘em for good.
