It's time to build OneCity, for all Vancouverites. Let's go.
Posts by OneCity Vancouver
We've got 6 months to meet 500,000 Vancouverites where they are on the issues that matter to them. We're going to earn their trust, win their votes, and send Ken Sim and his big money backers back to the Arbutus Club.
We are running the first-ever OneCity Mayoral Nominee, with our largest slate of candidates ever.
Everywhere we look, antidemocratic forces are trying to hedge out progressive voices and shut down the work of building a better future. This October, we have an opportunity to change that.
This deal puts two big things on the table: First, we're going to fight Ken Sim, not each other. Second, we're running to win, and that means fewer, better progressive candidates who don't knock the legs out from under each other.
We all know the story. Progressives split the vote, and some guy walked off the pickleball court at the Arbutus Club and into the Mayor's Office. Vancouver got four years of cuts, delays, and layoffs. Not this time.
Big news. OneCity, COPE, and the Greens have signed a Progressive Unity Agreement. We did the hard work, and we got it done. Here's what it means and why it matters.
So he started dressing for the job he wants? Nice!
Want to ask the mayor a question? Can’t make it to the State of the City address?

Response to Mayor Ken Sim’s position on the Ontario - Federal Housing & Infrastructure Investment.
Today, Mayor Ken Sim, on behalf of Vancouverites, leveraged investments in Ontario as a reason to complain that the Province and the Federal Government are failing to invest in Vancouver.
I have some things to say about this.

when pressed by councillor @lucymaloney.bsky.social for a timeline on when to expect a line-item budget, the city manager twice advised it would be available to council and the public in the first quarter of 2026.
Q1 ends tomorrow and the itemized budget is MIA

“Zero means zero” apparently also means zero safety for swimmers at our beaches this summer.
Voting panel showing that the Save Car Free Day urgent motion passed unanimously.
Car Free Day: SAVED. Elect progressives, get results.
Thank you for your support, everyone.
There’s one way to deal with a bully.
Go get him @seanorr.bsky.social.
Happy International Women’s Day! We’re celebrating the incredible women of OneCity, including Councillor Lucy Maloney, Trustee Jennifer Reddy, and the amazing members who are the heart of our party. We’re grateful for your leadership, dedication, and the work you do every day.
This isn’t just a mistake an apology to @seanorr.bsky.social can fix. This is opens up the city to huge liability.
What other decisions has Ken Sim made that we now need to question the source and reliability of them?
We wholeheartedly agree with @seanorr.bsky.social’scommitment to a progressive primary among the members of OneCity, COPE, and the Greens.
Unity gives Vancouver a real choice in October. (3/3)
@wazaroff.bsky.social has directed OneCity’s Board & Negotiating Team to table to COPE & the Greens a real unified primary to be held over the next 45 days. (2/3)
Ken Sim won’t be defeated by posts, polls, or prayers. He’ll be defeated in a vote.
That takes conviction in a single progressive candidate who can unify this city. (1/3)
NIMBY tears.
If it walks like an ABC, and quacks like an ABC, it's probably an ABC.
In 2025, City Hall paralysis blocked 6 key sites from being developed. Ken Sim couldn’t build the majority required to get things done.
Enough. I’m moving to immediately unlock these sites for 4,000 affordable homes. No more excuses. #VanPoli #HousingNow
Fun little programming note for Vancouver political nerds: @cbcstephenquinn.bsky.social and I will be hosting a live OneCity mayoral debate between Will Azaroff and Amanda Burrows tomorrow on the Early Edition.
Tune in around 8:10!
(we'll have a podcast version as well)
Sophie Ngo and her husband spend three hours every day driving between Richmond and Vancouver just to drop off their two kids at different daycares. It is the only way they can find care. "I don’t know why it’s so hard," she says. She is right.

I'm proud to accept the endorsement of former City Councillor, Mayor, Leader of the Opposition, and Premier of BC, Mike Harcourt.
Mike Harcourt governed this city during a time of great change and great optimism. We need big changes in Vancouver. And we need to bring that spirit of optimism back.
Hatred and violence against Jewish communities has no place in Australia, Canada or anywhere. It is unacceptable that anyone should fear being themselves or expressing their faith publicly.
I'm a duel citizen of Australia and Canada. I'm sickened reading this morning about the antisemitic mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach. My deepest condolences to families, friends and communities of the victims. May their memories be a blessing. +
According to @thetyee.ca , I’m a housing CEO who used to make indie chess movies and rom-coms.
Honestly? Fair assessment.
We talked about running with @onecityvan.bsky.social, fixing our housing deficit, and why directing is actually great prep for City Hall.
