I love your weird thing!

L: A young W B Yeats wearing pince nez and a large bow tie. R: A middle-aged Aleister Crowley wearing a large (possibly homburg) black hat and the ‘I’m mad, me’ expression that he always put on for photos
Ah! 19 April – 126th anniversary of the day William Butler Yeats kicked Aleister Crowley downstairs as they fought for control of the British branch of the not-at-all-ridiculous Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in the Battle of Blythe Road. According to legend, anyway... 🧵
Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage. A woman answers the door. We have come for the child, says the hooded figure So soon? she asks It is time, says the hooded figure. The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card! What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading! For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman, the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them. Do not cry mother. I am a writer now.

This timeline, man
This is what acqua tofana is for
This sounds like a really healing movie to watch
It took me until I was over forty to feel comfortable firmly asserting that I don’t have favorites! Until then, I’d capitulate when my spouse or kids kept pushing by suggesting options I like. It’s how I ended up assigned “green” for my favorite color and spouse would only give me stargazer lilies
At Pentagon worship service today, Pete Hegseth again read a violent prayer to bless the Iran war. But this time his prayer was apparently borrowed from 'Pulp Fiction.' I promise I'm not writing for @theonion.com now:

Driving tween home from school, I’m overcome by noxious fumes, like choking and coughing and eyes watering and I manage to roll down the windows. Car malfunction? Chemical warfare? No, eldest child took tween to Bath and Body Works. It’s “coconut and cotton” hand sanitizer
I had to look up what a Clavicular was, and just like years ago when there were headlines about a Snookie and I felt it was necessary to become more pop culture literate, I am filled with regret by my new knowledge
You know you’re a parent when you dream about vomit
Last night I dreamed I went into this house and there were a bunch of kittens and some of them were yellow and white, and my brain went “kittens aren’t yellow, make up a reason they’re yellow or change the color” and I went, “shut up, dream kittens can be any color”
And you’re my friend who reads Fforde so I brought you in
And I often have to look for a bathroom in dreams lol
I think the tea is self-explanatory
And I love the library built into a lighthouse in the Eva Gates cozy mystery series and I’ve always been obsessed with lighthouses
My subconscious is a weird place! I’d been reading about an Airbnb in Scotland where you stay over a bookshop and you can open the bookshop if you want and raise money for their book festival. And my brain went, but Fforde isn’t Scottish, he’s Welsh
@laguettler.bsky.social last night I dreamed that Jasper Fforde released the new Thursday Next but only at this tiny bookshop in a lighthouse in Wales and I ran into you there and we were all waiting and drinking tea and there was no bathroom and then the lights went out
Close up photo of a black, white and orange bird in the leaves, head up, beak open, eyes wide as he calls loudly.

Someone just told me that The Princess Bride is "overrated" and long story short it's perfectly acceptable to remove toxic people from your life.
This week is Black Maternal Health Week — and Black women are still being ignored, dismissed, and disrespected, especially during pregnancy and childbirth.
Over 80% of these deaths didn’t have to happen. This is your reminder to listen to Black women.
I was telling my Gen Z kid about the tan suit outrage and they could not believe it wasn’t satire
I am once again asking
