Post best picture you have ever taken of your pet if you feel like it.
Two large yellow sunflowers with the glow of the setting sun bursting through slightly out of focus trees behind them.
Sunset. Venice CA.
Dave from 2001 in a futuristic space helmet with a wall of red lights reflected across the face of it.
Open the pod bay doors, HAL. 2001 premiered 50 years ago today. Massive impact on 15 year old me. My already budding fascination with sci-fi was boosted through the stratosphere. Still love the film today.
A morbidly inclined sheep, who likes to hang around in graveyards, detests parties and owns original pressings of the entire classic run of Leonard Cohen LPs from 1967-1974.
THREAD. A collection of photographs of excellent sheep I have met on walks.
You will find the captions to each photo in the alt text.
Coffee in a white ceramic coffee cup on a copper table top. In the bs ground a coffee shop with upholstered chairs, curtained windows and bright morning sun against the opposite wall.
Morning joe in Los Olivos, California. Beautiful wine country but this morning, coffee.
Art has always been made in hard times. Poets recited verse as the Roman Empire waned. Soldiers wrote in the trenches of WWI. Novelists churned out books during the uncertain days of the Cold War. Art is what defines us, and in many cases it is all that remains when a civilisation falls.
What a sweetheart.
I want one.
Two seals barking at the end of a dock next to a sail boat in the ship.
Morning at the marina.
View of timer on espresso machine with wooden handle and espresso dripping into coffee cup on edge of frame.
First cup of weekend coffee is the best.

When I graduated from high school my counselor (who was great) told me it was good I wanted to be a physicist because I'd never be a great writer. I was also the worst writer in my frosh expos course.

Bagel and cream cheese on a plate with mug of coffee next to it.
That Sunday feeling.
THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!
Lit candle in golden jar.
Night out.
“Everyone wants to be Cary Grant. Even I want to be Cary Grant".
"Part of a collective mind intent upon destroying any semblance of scientific progress in the universe, the Krakaren is the only communal brain entity in the galaxy who actually gets stupider as time moves on.
There’s still plenty of time for me to suddenly develop a talent
“There's no honorable way to kill, no gentle way to destroy. There is nothing good in war. Except it’s ending.”
~ Abraham Lincoln
Lifeguard shack with beach and crashing waves behind it.
Sunday walk along the beach. Warm but not hot and just beautiful.
Large yellow sunflower.
Feels like spring today.
I really like the abstract nature of the Angel Nebula. It hosts emission, reflection, and dark nebulosity, features shaped by radiation and powerful winds of hot young stars.
