It's a meme featuring the beginning of the Happy Birthday scene from the SpongeBob episode "Selling Out".

Squidward, edited with his head now being the Nintendo Logo, is telling a family (featuring their child who's head has been edited with my News Chao social media avatar) that they released a new Tomodachi Life game yesterday.

The bottom image features that same edited fish, same avatar, interrupting Nintenward by saying it's their birthday.

Something I've loved about checking out other gaming IPs is all the cool music I've discovered. Persona & Guilty Gear stand out the most but it's not just them! If you told me 10 yrs ago that I'd end up liking WarioWare, Xenoblade, Zelda, Final Fantasy & Kingdom Hearts songs I wouldn't believe you.

Internet: "Wow, those pictures of Earth from Artemis II look great!"

Me: "Finally, the Sonic Unleashed world map is in next-gen 4K 120 FPS!"

The Illumination Mario movies, to be honest, never really interested me. From what I've seen of the trailers, they're clearly made for kids and families, not for me. And that's okay.

The first movie did very well and I'm sure the Mario Galaxy Movie will do the same.

Of course, for all we know, maybe SGF has nothing. Maybe SEGA waits until late June for a Sonic Central presentation or something. Or maybe we just get nothing at all. Again, it's hard to say.

But I do think that we'll have a complete idea of Sonic 35th plans by the end of June.

For all we know, it may not even necessarily involve a game. It could just be an updated Sonic Symphony concert event for Sonic's 35th. It's hard to say.

All I know is that SEGA loves Keighley events and there's a lot of Sonic news history with them. So, we'll see what happens!

I do still think that Summer Game Fest's worth watching for potential Sonic news despite the false alarm with Roger Craig Smith today.

SEGA loves Keighley events for Sonic news, including reveals. And it's Sonic's 35th.

I'm not saying something *will* happen. But it's possible!

...Or this could have nothing to do with Sonic...as Roger Craig Smith clarified on Twitter.

...That's fine too. lol

It explains a lot. lol

I don't think they'd have Iizuka *and* Roger Craig Smith at IGN Live, that would be excessive.

There's also the in-person event Summer Game Fest Play Days that will happen for the few days that follow the SGF presentation. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where Iizuka ends up attending.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more this really does seem to be game-related. The only curveball here is Roger Craig Smith being at IGN Live and not Iizuka.

Everything else, however, seems to line up perfectly with their usual marketing.

So, we'll see!

Speaking of Summer Game Fest, the fact that it is coincidentally happening the day before IGN Live (and Roger Craig Smith's appearance) is *very* interesting.

In my opinion, I think this pretty much confirms that Sonic will be in the SGF presentation in some way. So, get ready!

If so, it clearly worked!

I'm just glad to see things starting to really kick off now. And it looks like I'll need to get ready to monitor interviews again because just anyone directly and officially associated with Sonic being at IGN Live is a big deal.

Something's happening.

There's just so many possibilities here. They completely threw me off by having Roger Craig Smith here instead of Iizuka. And I wouldn't be surprised if this switch-up was precisely to make it more difficult for Sonic fans to theorize what this project is.

3 weeks ago 3 0 1 0

Honestly, I couldn't tell you. I can't rule out it being some kind of non-game media content. And I definitely can't rule out Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition.

But I do think we'll know why he's there and what this project is the day before, when Summer Game Fest happens.

Could this be the next major Sonic game? It's very possible! June is very much on-brand for SEGA to reveal something like that. And June being Sonic's 35th birthday this year lines up perfectly.

But that still makes me wonder why Iizuka wouldn't appear to talk about it...

3 weeks ago 4 0 1 0

He's the VA specifically for Sonic *games*, so it's most likely that this is game-related in some way. I doubt he'd be there for Sonic Movie 4 stuff, and a new Sonic cartoon/show seems a little too soon...and not something I think he's involved with.

3 weeks ago 2 0 1 0

Honestly I'm stumped. If this were Iizuka going to IGN Live, it would be pretty safe to say why. We've got plenty of historical precedent to look at and there's only one candidate for that.

But the fact that this is specifically Roger Craig Smith is what makes this so baffling.

3 weeks ago 3 0 1 0

My mind immediately goes to the Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition that got a rating recently, but that doesn't feel like something I'd expect Sonic's VA to go to IGN Live for.

However, SEGA loves marketing Sonic games in June, so this wouldn't be out of left field either.

3 weeks ago 5 0 2 0

This is the first time I think Roger Craig Smith has ever gone to IGN Live for Sonic. Usually, it's Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka that attends these. So this is a switch-up that makes predicting what this could be about *much* more difficult.

The project could be anything.

3 weeks ago 4 0 1 0

Well, Sonic VA Roger Craig Smith teased something Sonic-related for IGN Live in June! And he'll be attending there too!

For obvious reasons, June was already looking to be an interesting month for Sonic.

This definitely made that official though!

There's definitely plenty of other stuff to play though. It's not like the Switch 2 doesn't have any first-party content, because Nintendo has been putting out a steady stream of them since the console released!

I just wish I got that icing on the cake too, you know?

3 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

The wait has been so long...I'm *starving* for a successor to Odyssey.

But if a new main 3D Mario isn't coming out until 2027 or hell even 2028, I wouldn't mind...as long as they just said so. Put my mind at ease knowing there's a light at the end of the tunnel dammit! lol

I know one is coming *eventually*. It's not a matter of if, but when.

But I wish I didn't have to bank on speculation & assumptions anymore. I wish Nintendo would just say *something*. Even if it won't release this year, even if there's no gameplay yet, at least say *something*.

3 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

It's just so weird to me. From my childhood up to the Switch 1, whenever I got a new Nintendo console, it was pretty much guaranteed that a new main 2D/3D Mario was waiting.

I'm glad i've tried out so many Nintendo IPs now because 2016 me would not have been happy at all. lol

3 weeks ago 2 0 1 0

This wouldn't be a problem if Nintendo didn't have this "wait until the *very* last minute* mentality with announcing everything now. I miss when we got a least a *teaser* of what we could get the following year. I'd be content with just a teaser of a 3D Mario for 2027...
