Remember when they used to be worried about even the APPEARANCE of impropriety? Those were the days . . .

Congratulations! The book is so deserving!

This is an excellent point. They're trying to overwhelm us with a firehose of monkeyshit.

So, let's do it right back. Whatever you can do, do. Every bit helps. Protest if you can, scream at a townhall if you can, run for an elected office if you can.

But whatever you do, don't stop.

I’m actually using colored pencil—and an experimental sealant that isn’t commercially available.

No. I think I downloaded it once but found I just don't feel like bothering to track what I read.

Just finished this book last night. Wow. What a stunner! Very tough to read at times, especially when so much of our country seems to want to go back to those times, but so worth it. Off to buy some more @tananarivedue.bsky.social books!

NAACP lists companies that dump DEI in its tactical spending guide for Black Americans The NAACP wants Black Americans to steer their buying power toward corporations that haven’t pulled back from diversity programs under conservative pressure.

The NAACP is re-mixing 1930s-era "don't buy where you can't work" campaigns to confront the neo-segregationists targeting DEI.

I think I’m finished with my Zentangle jeans project. I really like how they turned out. Hope the recipient likes the too!

Part 2, in which AOC explains that right-wing voters call their Congressional Representatives ALL THE TIME, and Democrats need to match that energy on a consistent basis.

We can do this.

I have an experimental sealant I was given to test—that the company unfortunately seems not to have moved forward with. I use colored pencils and some gel pens, but they’re only possible because of the sealant.

Slow but steady progress on my current Zentangle jeans project.

Thanks! The coloring is a lot of fun, but does take me forever. Just that one line of color took me all morning! (To be fair, I get up rather late and am a slow tangler, but still . . .)

I'm tickled pink that at 59 years old, I'm stronger than I have ever been. This is 185 pounds! (And I clearly can do more weight, since I did these after 10 reps at 125, 8 reps at 145, and 6 reps at 165.)

I don't get to post finished pieces as often these days because I'm working at bigger scale than I used to. So, here's a work in progress. A pair of Zentangle jeans for a friend and fellow CZT. So fun to do, but they do take a long time!

Here's an updated version of yesterday's Zentangle post. I felt like the previous version was a little sparse, so added some smaller elements in the background.

A man jumping, under the words "Make Time For Joy"

Reminder: They're trying to demoralize you, and they're doing a great job of it. Part of resisting is making time for joy despite the attempts to make you feel this is not the time for it. Love your people. Dig the art that speaks to you. Go to the places where life flows into you. You deserve joy.

Thanks for the recommendation. Just ordered! (I'm so out of the loop that I miss books like this sometimes, so I'm glad to have my attention directed toward it.)

Finished my latest large-format (for Zentangle) piece. This is 7 x 9 on hot press watercolor paper. Background is Distress Ink, shading with Pablo watercolor pencils. Still debating whether to add more to the background. Will experiment with it digitally.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

I'm doing a lot of larger-format Zentangle pieces these days. I'm enjoying working on the same piece for more than a couple of days. I'm working on one now, but here's the last one I completed.
