βWhy are Britainβs 50 richest families wealthier than half the population combined?β π° - Councillor @geraldinecoggins.bsky.social
Yes Peter! ππ»
Cosies up? You mean treats them with dignity and respect unlike a lot of other politicians? That's not cosying up. That's being a decent human being.
Because it puts animals in extremely dangerous situations for the purposes of "entertainment".
Cheers Craig! If the unexpected does happen, then I will do my best to carry on that tradition of doing what Greens do best - working hard and getting stuff done for their residents!
Hannah Spencer, the new Gorton and Denton MP
We are so proud of Hale councillor, Hannah Spencer, who delivered a seismic by-election victory to deliver hope over hate. π
Hannah will be continue to work hard with Orla and Jane as your local Green Party team for Hale, getting things done, making a difference on the issues that matter π
Exactly. We're proving each other's point. Which is why the Hale by-election result isn't particularly "interesting" at all, and doesn't support the notion that Greens are losing in what were previously Tory areas.
Minimum wage less than the real living wage, renters still not protected by rent controls in a cost-of-living crisis, and the HoL still in existence? Labour aren't making great efforts to be left wing. And then add in health privatisation, removal of benefits and more....no, they're not left wing.
Thank you Peter!
Well I'm a non-target candidate for the first time ever in May. Some very strange things would have to happen for me to be elected though. But given politics right now, they probably wouldn't be all that strange!
Great spot!
That has shaped my thinking. I'll always prioritise those that don't have a seat at the table, and work the metaphorical socks off to get them elected (and literal socks.....already wearing holes in the heels and we're only in March). But I'm more inclined now to maybe one day go for it.
This is why I've never put myself forward, and piled more effort into getting underrepresented people elected. But a female friend said to me "Yeah, but how many of those white, cishet, middle-class, able-bodied, university educated men also have progressive views? We need those allies on councils".

Result for the Horsley division in the 2025 Derbyshire County Council election.
These are definitely anecdotal observations. Context has huge importance in local elections. The Greens have just won this division in Derbyshire from Reform, who took it in 2025 after it had been a Tory safe seat. So this is counter to the argument Greens now struggle to win in Tory areas.
I wouldn't be worrying about other people's hypocrisy when your party is led by a human rights lawyer who supported cutting off water and power to Gaza.
People differ in the definition of "socialist", but definitely a left-wing party. Which can't be said of the Labour Party anymore really.
I wouldn't be worrying about other people's hypocrisy when you vote for the Labour Party. The party that suspended MPs for voting against maintaining the two child benefit cap. You know, that would have improved the lives of thousands of children.
She did. And you're right, she is!
Nope, not one of them.
Saying something like this about a female MP's first ever speech during a debate about International Women's Day......I'll leave it at that.
If Labour acted like Labour, then that would be a credible suggestion. But they've long abandoned socialist politics.

Politicians are elected to serve their constituents. Their constituents' concerns are paramount. When you can't feed yourself or heat your home, the climate and nature crises are irrelevant to you. But it doesn't stop solutions to one being solutions to the other. Hannah Spencer gets that.
Totally. So poverty is 100@% a green issue, despite what William thinks.
