I do not have my own ducks in row and your advance planning / excitement is appreciated.
I saw I have some preorders already for the paperback of THE BELLES (out in August) and whoever you folks are, you rock!
π I thought I would capture the vibes that Tim has left on the table
Thank you thank you! π

Screenshot of my Goodreads review of: The Belles The Belles by Lacey N. Dunham. "This is a fabulous book! It is very well written, tense, rich in detail, and a thoroughly enjoyable read. The author shows her skill in constructing a supremely well-thought-out plot and executing it with solid pacing, unexpected twists, and a satisfying conclusion. Lacey introduces readers to a vast array of memorable characters and infuses each with personality, depth, and uniqueness. This thoroughly riveting story centers around Bellerton, an elite women's college in the 1950s - the school is as much of a character as any person in the story. Deena, the protagonist, is not who she appears to be and harbors dark secrets which would spoil everything if discovered. This book is filled with rule-breaking, escapism, deception, suspicion, need for belonging, loyalty, betrayal, sinister backstories, ghosts, and even murder."
You should buy this book!
It's fabulous!

Thank you so much for this incredibly generous review, Dave! πΈβ οΈ
Great weekend. Had a fantastic time at the Virginia Festival of the Book, moderating a panel with John Gilstrap and @christinakovac.bsky.social and speaking on a panel with Jennifer van der Kleut and Marisa Kashino and hanging with @bookbent.bsky.social. Finished The Belles today: magnificent.
Fantastic news! Congrats on both! ππ
Now that Iβve turned in my second book to my editor (!!!!) I guess I can go back to worrying about the future and doomscrolling social media.
This but make it vegan
The weather is spectacular in DC right now. Sunny, warm, short sleeve blue sky gem kind of weather.
And, of course, Iβm a book deadline.

Breaking in is hard, but then what? Join Lacey N. Dunham (#TheBelles), Marisa Kashino (#BestOfferWins), Samuel Ashworth (#TheDeathAndLifeOfAugustSweeney), and Hannah Grieco (#FirstKickingThenNot) for a real look at the reality of that first launch year.

Only tiptoeing back onto socials to say that @necessaryfiction.com is still open to subs for our summer flash fiction series! Details, etc. etc. ππΌ
This is important, re self-awareness about limitations of scope and reach. Even re book reviews. I know if I post about the WaPo review I was supposed to turn in I'll get well-meaning offers but the goal will be to place it somewhere with a similar audience. Working on reach is really important.
