The study measured which of three bowls the dogs approached first: blue, grey or yellow. Dogs only have two color photoreceptors, so they mainly see the world in ๐ต and ๐ก
Most dogs went to the yellow bowl first, and brightness didn't account for their preference.

I interviewed @alisonpstevens.bsky.social about her book Detective Dogs: How Working Dogs Sniff Out Invasive Species. It's a fascinating (and fun) account of the work of conservation dogs and would make a great gift for kids. www.companionanimalpsychology.com/2025/12/an-i...
Want to learn about how dogs' amazing sense of smell can help us battle invasive species? Pick up a copy of Detective Dogs! Come to the launch party at Francie & Finch Bookshop this Friday, Sept 19 at 5:30pm in Lincoln, NE. There will be real-life sniffer dogs showing how they do their work! ๐ถ๐๐พ
