Recalibrating our 10-yr old gas mixing furnace, here is a small bizarre set up I made but perfect return voltage from TC to we can convert to a temperature (room temperature right now).

The Moon fully eclipsing the Sun, captured by Artemis II.
....shot on Nikon Z9!!!!
Earth behind the Moon
Awesome image from Artemis.
Big!
[alt text by NASA] The Moon, seen here backlit by the Sun during a solar eclipse on April 6, 2026, is photographed by one of the cameras on the Orion spacecraft’s solar array wings. Orion is visible in the foreground on the left. Earth is reflecting sunlight at the left edge of the Moon, which is slightly brighter than the rest of the disk. The bright spot visible just below the Moon’s bottom right edge is Saturn. Beyond that, the bright spot at the right edge of the image is Mars. Credit: NASA
Whoa 🤯
The Moon, in full eclipse, with the #Artemis II Orion spacecraft. Part of the Moon and spacecraft are lit by Earthshine, and both Saturn and Mars are visible to the lower right. Incredible. Details: images.nasa.gov/details/art0...
New work challenges the idea of a “wet” Moon🌙💧
Our GCA study, with Raj and @cintylee.bsky.social, shows water-rich lunar melt inclusions form via magmatic recharge, instead of requiring a wet mantle! The Moon may still be strongly volatile-depleted. @riceeeps.bsky.social

New shot of the Moon taken only a few hours ago by the Artemis II crew! More of the lunar far side coming into view :-D

Thermodynamics: 10% physics, 90% unit conversions
Conceptually yes! But we would need to think about what phases are in the interior of Io, solid or gas etc
#Mercury is unusually S-rich. Could #sulfur play a role similar to #volatiles on Earth in shaping melt generation and differentiation?
Here, Raj and I combine spectros and expts to show how S dissolves in Mercurian melts affects Mercury’s interior evolution.

Nice to see you in person Nick!!
What happened if a planet has weight-percent-level S in the mantle melts and how such large amounts of S affect melt generation in reduced planet like Mercury? Stop by my poster tomorrow morning at V21B-0069 and let’s chat! #AGU2025
Next Monday @riceuniversity.bsky.social we have a panel discussion on the geopolitics of critical minerals for the energy transition. Geology does not distribute natural resources fairly. This leads to a complex web of trade and geopolitical tensions.

We r having a panel discussion on critical minerals Dec 8 @riceuniversity.bsky.social in conjunction with the French Consulate of Houston.

w/ Oli Shorttle, @johannateske.bsky.social & Eliza Kempton we reviewed our current understanding and prospects for peaking on the inside of small #exoplanets in "Constraining exoplanet interiors using observations of their atmospheres": www.science.org/stoken/autho... & arxiv.org/abs/2510.08844 🔭🧪⚒️☄️
🚨 NEW EPISODE OUT! 🚨 It's time to talk scientific illustration in the world of volcanoes and geology with @geologytalk.bsky.social , Annabelle Foster!

Some facts: as a postdoc, I haven't started my research career yet 😂
#postdoc
Lab made lunar analogs, the color matches really well with the lunar soil

Going to conferences as a postdoc: 3x the cost, 1/3xxx the travel grant opportunities.

Hi all, especially ECRs! My Department is hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor of Earth and Environmental Geoscience.
We are a small liberal arts college with a small but engaged geo department. Looking to interview and hire immediately. Please apply! ⚒️

I see! I often see people use it in olivine as ratios with other elements as well. We do good calibration for Mn, no worries! :)
Rarely use the Mn in the silicate glass then why do we still keep measuring it in the EPMA campaign 🤔
These two are classic!
A nice visit to UK and catch up with old and new friends. Finally back to H-town tomorrow!
Want to know the lunar sulfur evolution from Apollo to Chang’e-5 mantle? Check out our new GCA paper! A new sulfur content at sulfide saturation (SCSS) model is also attached that is suitable for sulfides with variable metal-sulfur ratio.

I thought yesterday was the last day of LPSC 🥲
