Week 6 - To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar

I don't think I can fit all my feelings about this album into one post. It's amazing - unmatched lyricism and flow, stellar, varied instrumentals throughout, and just a beautifully crafted album. Please listen to it.

Week 5 - Disintegration by The Cure

A lot more pop influence than I expected, but I really like the sound! Low, punchy drums, phaser-heavy guitars, shiny synths, and Robert Smith's breathy, almostdesperate vocals give all the songs this really pretty sound with an undercurrent of sadness.

Week 4 - Quadrophenia by The Who

I grew up listening to a ton of The Who since it was my dad's favorite band, but never sat down to listen to a full album. I really love a cohesive, thematic album, and as usual Pete Townsend is legendary with the synthesizers

Favorite song: Love Reign O'er Me

Drukqs by Aphex Twin

I've listened to a lot of IDM, but never listened to the original master, and wow people weren't lying when they said this guy is legendary. Insanely good combination of ambient, noise, and crazy rhythms.

Peaceful as Hell by Black Dresses

Been meaning to listen to this band for a while. I think I like Ada Rook's solo work a little bit better still, but there were a lot of really good glitchy sounds and industrial beats throughout the album.

The Rainbow Goblins by Masayoshi Takanaka

This was pretty out of my wheelhouse since I don't listen to a ton of jazz, but I really enjoyed it! They weren't lying this guy really is a legendary guitarist, and the storybook/fairytale framing of the album was pretty neat!
