also proud of the visuals. will definitely experiment with more long exposure video, it always breaks things up really well. one failed effect was trying to use more sped up "jittery" imagery but I think I timed the playback too conservatively, the jitters didn't translate.

there's a very clear reference to charli xcx's "club classics". for a while, I felt bad about taking the chord progression but I discovered literally YESTERDAY that song also shares chords with madonna's "get together"!!! everyone borrows!!

it feels true to my experiences with a demanding partner. even if the manner of requests weren't explicitly dominant, the consequences for not complying were extremely intense. I think they felt the same way about things I wanted, so it felt right to do that voice myself rather than someone else.

I think the story flows pretty well. there's a sense of the "conflict" being slowly revealed rather than repeated throughout the whole song. Also like the descending "do it like that's", so they feel sinister before the beat drops.

lyrically it had a strict structure, because I was basing everything off verse 1. an earlier version also didn't let the beat drop for FOREVER whereas now it drops 3 times: once after each verse and "chorus".

anyway! also really proud of this one. quite a dense soundscape but I'm happy with it. it may get taken down in the future because the license holder for the melody and verse 1 ghosted me LOL.

I added captions (despite really not liking the look of auto captions on tt), hoping they benefit the visibility a little. My hunch is that heavily-produced video PLUS promotional captions feel too much like an ad to get traction. might make the next one more personal and story focused.

had a rough sleep, woke up for terrible bathroom time, and I just feel low and weak appetite most of the day.

I know other celiac's have it way worse but man, attacks like that really put a damper on my interest in ever experimenting with food.

I don't often talk abt celiac disease because it's just a thing I deal with, but honestly the mental load of assuming most things have gluten can be so tiring. especially feeling it today after being glutened by (I'm pretty sure) plain sushi.
