More than anything, today’s result in Hungary is a reminder that much of the public discourse is wildly overstating the strength of authoritarianism (F-word) and the weakness of democracy.
Hungary was the playbook for anti LGBTQ policy in the west. Don't say gay in Florida was modeled on policies adopted there, which they modeled off of Russia. Same with ending legal recognition of trans people. They restricted access to transition care in 2020.
