Worse? [Rayman shakes his head.] You got me outta there, didn't you?

[The pair are chatting now that Jano has released Rayman from his grasp. Well, more like Murfy is sobbing up a storm and Rayman is giving him a hug and a pat on the back.] There, there... C'mon, man, you know I always pull through.

["You will not understand." Jano fades into the dark, but leaves Krypt with one last message. "The world shall be saved by a new hero now."

Darkness. The echoing drip of water. The cave no longer answers whatever questions Krypt has for the devil.]

[Jano's form is revealed once more, his gaze piercing the dark. He lifts his staff... and gives it a shake.

Evil chuckles echo through the cave. "It is done," he bellows. "The tides have shifted in my favor already. You may have your precious hero back."]

[Hoo, boy. Murfy grits his teeth against the fear threatening to spill out in whines. "If you're sure, then I'll be praying for ya, man..."

The cavern is as dark as ever, but a single, reptilian eye peers from the depths...]

[Together. Yeah. Rayman grips Raymesis's hand tight.] Okay. We can do this. [Maybe he can't do it on his own, but he has his literal other half guiding him. They can make this work.]

I... think they brought me in from the left. Let's go that way.

"Blade? Nice to meet you. People call me Ray, so whatever works for you, I guess?"

The truth serum has him a little antsy... He doesn't know Blade at all yet, and he's likely to spill a big secret like this.

Rayman pouts, but it's hard to be truly mad when he can feel her concern for him. She always struck him as the Sour Patch Kid type; first they're sour, then they're sweet.

"I dunno what it accomplishes besides getting people all worked up," he sighs. "I don't think anyone can undo this."

[Murfy slaps Rayman's cheeks together. Nothing. He's still trapped in another plane of existence. Once his tears have run their course, he flutters behind Krypt, voice trembling as he says, "I'm going back in. The staff is the only way to fix this."]

I take a dose of truth serum and THAT'S what you ask me? [Snort.] You're silly, 'Mesis.

[Murfy flutters over near Rayman, clearly worried. The hero seems completely lost, staring blankly into nothingness. "We gotta snap him outta this," Murfy tells Krypt. "He's been in the Cave of Bad Dreams this whole time! If we don't wake him up, he'll never get outta there! But how do we…?! Gah!"]

"I can't explain it... I'm not an expert on this." Rayman shakes his head. "But I had prolonged exposure to nightmares in a soulspace, so it can't have helped any."

Sigh. She's not going to be satisfied with that. At least he tried. "There are doctors in my world who CAN help. Leave it to them."

Umm! No. They wanted to... Oh dear. [Rayman is restless, caught between needing to get out and needing stability. He stands again, legs wobbling like the day he awoke with them.] I uh... L-Let's go. I'll... I'll work on this later.

Oh. Rayman's eyes begin to water.

"Th... That's really nice of you." He picks up the brioche and nibbles it. He hasn't gotten a gift in a while, he realizes, and it pulls his tender heartstrings.

"ThanKS," he squeaks out.

Slowly, it starts to become clear that Rayman isn't gonna succeed. He sighs and kicks at the ground. "…Fine. You win." Whatever she's about to win, he has no idea, but it beats what he had planned.

"I got trapped in the Cave of Bad Dreams. It does things to you when you're filled with nightmares."

Oh... Oh I... I think I have to stay here. Until this. Stops.

[It's sudden, and though it's funny in the long run, it terrifies Rayman. He just did something to hurt someone precious to him, and he couldn't even realize it as it was happening. Trembling, he pulls away and holds his head in his hands.] Wh-Wha... ah...

[What were they just talking about? He ⤵️

"I like bread," he chirps. "Don't worry about it, I can handle things that make me feel like I wanna explode and die!" Uh-oh sisters. That last line wasn't supposed to come out of his mouth. This truth serum has hands.
