Marginalized people with years of experience in community organizing are allowed to give the side-eye to a poorly organized nebulous “movement” primarily comprised of white cis straight able white people with absolutely no transparency about who is behind it.

I dunno y'all, but very little makes me more sceptical about white people's ability to empathize in any way shape or form with the experiences of brown people than watching a bunch of white people talk or write about abuse of power and detentions at the border as if it is a new thing

As heartened as I am by the turnout yesterday I’m equally as skeptical of the #50501 “movement.” How can it be a movement without a coherent list of goals, demands, and consequences?

Here’s another one. Peaceful and non-violent aren’t the same thing. If you felt safe and comfortable, you were being permitted by the state to air your grievances.

Jefferson County Missouri (very red) held it's Hands off rally on an overpass of hwy 55. Our spirits were not dampened by the cold pouring rain and wind, ~350 folks attended.
It was great to be among like-minded people who want to stop the corrupt authoritarian takeover of our Democracy!

Yes! We don’t punish victims of abusers so why are we so invested in punishing these people? Don’t get me wrong, they’d rather I not exist and I know that. But what we’ve been doing hasn’t worked. We need a new strategy.
