Arcade racer? San Francisco RUSH 2049
I loved the secret shortcuts that had really good risk vs. reward balance
My #2 is Virtua Racing
Sorry I am not picking Daytona. And with a tip of my hipster contrarian fedora, I bid adieu, stage right ...

You guys call leftists purity testers and all this other shit. You call us pinkos and denigrate us and extremists and all this.
We want your fucking kids to go to school and eat healthy meals and grow up and be safe and have jobs and not be institutionally murdered by the state.
Humble yourselves.
Yeah ... *sigh* ... yeah. I have run into this. I've actually been caught way off guard by WHO would do this
It's a little bit like the pandemic when I found out who within my closest personal circle would gladly sacrifice everyone for a small creature comfort
Except here it is a fellow creative
After a lot of coding hackery I've got an early version of the unreleased Tom and Jerry game running. It's VERY broken, probably something I could fix, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort - even though I have the full source code. This game was later known as 'Tom vs. Jerry: The Chase is On!'
I'm obsessed over this amazing action pose their demo video freezes on. Especially the struck fencer. Brain is sticking it into its reference folder ...
Congratulations!
I remember telling my daughter, "If you see a bear cub, you are in danger and you need to get away from it. Its Mom is very likely near by ..."
" ... and hippos. Stay away from all hippos."
There's no stopping the ウーズ!
With the help of the Sandy Hook families, The Onion has reached a long-awaited deal to take over InfoWars.
We've enlisted the help of @timheidecker.bsky.social, who will be InfoWars' Creative Director.
Please stand by for more.
PS I am semi-joking. Whatever SF you enjoy playing is actually the best SF.
I use to be a very opinionated asshole about these things and had to outgrow that. In the end, having fun is what counts.
Picture of some bald headed beardo weirdo wearing a Super Street Fighter II X/Turbo shirt, of the super cool red X CPS2 label/promo poster art for the game
I treated myself to some new shirts this week. Rep'ing the best SF* ever (sorry Third Strike)
* = if we turn off O.characters/fix stored super bugs/fix Claw's ambiguous wall dive/give everyone useful supers/tweak all the characters to make up for those changes/essentially HDR but not HDR I guess?
"You think he likes ham?! Wait till you see *ME* like ham!"
Maybe I was hoping some players would do that? Because you think you can shortcut the healing process, but all you've done is created a bigger mess of things!
Bonus: Other mediums it is kinda the same way, but with pictures/movies/games in my head.
Or I will just start doodling circles, squares, triangles, balls, cubes, pyramids, torsos, skulls, hands, heads, faces, etc. Until something starts to click.
A comic by Beetlemoses of the last fight scene in Aliens. Panel one shows Ripley saying, "Stay away from her you BITCH!" Panel 2: The Queen Alien and Ripley in the power loader thing fight Panel 3: The Queen Alien is at home in the shower. She finally says to herself, "It takes one to know one, honey" She contemplates, "That's what I should've said"
It becomes kind of addicting, because all the drafts after are like having a super power where my inner voice can reverse time and be like, "No! I should've said this"
I get anxious meeting people in real life, because my written persona, as mediocre as it is, is way more clever than I am in person
... eventually that voice will hit on why I don't want to focus on said topic and it flows into talking about it
Criticism: my inner voice is trying to have a constructive conversation with the artist(s), like I am back in art school and our homework is tacked onto the wall to be discussed
Non-fiction: my rough drafts always start with my hands transcribing a conversation my inner voice is having about the topic
If I am having writer's block, I let that voice talk about whatever, including its frustration with the writer's block, while my hands keep transcribing ...
I keep seeing "all authors use AI, the real issue is they're being forced to be sneaky about it" headlines.
Full stop No. This is a lie peddled for normalization. It's schoolyard-level pressure tactics "C'mon, all the cool kids are already doing it. We won't tell. It's fine. We're on your side."
A Taito arcade from 1982 or 83. Gorillas were a big thing for some reason
Only posting this as I can't remember where I got it from & despite posting it before, social media searching is literally worthless. Maybe I'll be able to reverse image search it now?
Plus it's cool as hell
A screenshot of a white-on-black terminal depicting a 19x19 go board in ascii graphics, with empty grid intersections as periods, and black and white as Os and #s
It’s absolutely incredible that one of the largest Japanese-run Go servers, which has been running since 1992, is still accessed entirely via Telnet. And while most players use GUI clients that use Telnet under the hood, you can still connect manually and get ASCII graphics streamed to you
Yeah! I had to look that up to confirm. Return of the Living Dead is from 1985, but it was likely a cheap(er) film to rent the print and do a second run of
It just dawned on me how alike ED2 and ROLD are on the whole horror-stooge-comedy thing. Just as a double feature, that's a crazy good night 😆
Holy shit what a line up!
Title screen for Trava The Fist Planet projected on Sosadillatron's bedroom wall. Sosadillatron's dog is in the foreground.
Starting the night off with an all-time favorite. I've been trying to do this game jam but gawd damn I am so distracted this weekend 😆 Maybe watching one of my favorites will help?

Three panels of a gag from Space Patrol Luluco First panel shows a close up of an Alien judge slapping cuffs on Luluco saying, "You're under arrest!" Second panel is a long flat shot of Luloco, the judge, Luluco's father, and another Space Patrol officer. Luloco pleads, "B-but I haven't done anything wrong." Third panel is same as first, except the cuffs are flying off. The Judge says, "You're free to go!"

I appreciate it! If it gets to that I'll reach out :)
But! I kept this, my candy cab, and Arkanoid Revenge of DOH. Most of my spare boards as well (so I am technically not totally out ;P)
But I had to give up all the other cabs. Like, 16 machines total? Tons of parts. I was spoiled with a garage
Yeah! Every CAX I asked myself, "When will my body finally force me to exit this hobby?"
When I was in my 20/30s, having a mini-arcade was physically (mostly) no big deal! Almost being crushed felt like a freak accident
Now at my age, losing the majority of my cabs might've been a painful blessing
This is also where I experienced RGB NES games for the first time. Way back when RGB mods were a super niche, ridiculously hard-core corner of retro games. I was blessed with the easiest way to play them!
Castlevania especially really pops on an arcade monitor. It became my favorite way to play it
