also a reminder that men of a certain age in sports have been weird about sue bird for a long time. www.espn.com/espn/page2/s...
I wish I could become unaware of the Dan Dakich response to Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe’s breakup
(which of course means he does have more money than them)
a reminder that the current editor-in-chief of the New York Times is the son of co-founder of Staples and refuses to say whether or not he has more money than the scion family that owns the New York Times
another job listing for senior-level communicators. lmk if you think this is the right job for you and I can put you in touch with your potential future boss
look, I have come not to expect more from this publication but even this is abysmally low from them my god
I'm going to be (am already?) so annoying about Isa Briones' award-winning performance as "someone who cannot sing."
these people are all terminally pathetic losers
There is an IT subplot!! I enjoyed Season 2. Some people have knocked it because it wasn't novel like Season 1 or didn't include a really intense Pitt Fest subplot. Also Robby is kind of a jerk all season. But not every season needs a mass casualty event and making it to the finale really pays off.
This is all very good, as expected, and also includes an accurate assertion aligned to the consensus around Noah Wyle being wrong about the people's desire for more night shift. Sorry not sorry we like Jack Abbot!!! Chen! We love our weird and wild night crawlers!
Dr. Cerina Fairfax is remembered as a mentor and community leader as officials call attention to the broader impact of domestic gun violence toward Black women
Everything on my feed is set to “you outta know” and also you outta know the first cd I ever owned was jagged little pill
I mean the last thing is the most unequivocal “no” and this is of course not a spoiler
I’m never recovering from that episode of The Pitt and also relatedly Shawn Hatosy is likely the sexiest man alive.
as I wrote about last year, one of the wildest experiences was living through massive layoffs at Roll Call while Roll Call was profitable (but to The Economist's eye, not profitable enough?). rollcall.com/2025/07/16/l...

Steve Ballmer's wife Connie has invested $80 million in NPR. I think this will be better than the Clippers.
This.
And also: a system that is built to protect creeps is not a system that is built to protect democracy and the freedoms and justice it is supposed to provide.
KIMBERLÉ W. CRENSHAW JEMELE HILL BACKTALKER: AN AMERICAN MEMOIR April 30, 2026 7:00 pm PT California African American Museum, Los Angeles PEN AMERICA WORLD VOICES FESTIVAL
A lot of really cool conversations coming up, but I think I’m personally most excited for this one between @kimberlecrenshaw.bsky.social and @jemelehill.bsky.social worldvoices.pen.org/event/backta...
I feel this exactly.
Tomorrow The Pitt will be over and we’ll still be a year out from season 2 of Heated Rivalry and so I guess I’m just not going to have a personality until 2027.
I think it’s important to remember that Chuck Schumer told Bret Stephens his No. 1 job was to keep Democrats pro-Israel. It is objectively not working out for him.
this isn’t giving Nazi Germany at all

honestly it is so hard to believe that paying Dustin Johnson $125 million didn't change people's opinions on a regime that did 9/11 and bone-sawed a journalist at an embassy when he was trying to obtain a marriage license.
Between this and Sotomayor's recent dig at Kavanaugh, I'm getting the sense that Callais (the Voting Rights Act case) will be an absolute disaster and the liberals have given up trying to mitigate the damage.
this is my way of saying that the problem is everyone else. somehow a bunch of generic cis white men are called by their correct names and it's just the same Kevin, John and Mike.
