“The United States is being murdered, and it’s an inside job. Every department, every branch, every bureau and function of the federal government is being fatally corrupted or altogether dismantled or disabled.”

MAGA has always been a cult, but the fight with the Pope represents something much larger taking place.
Christian Nationalism is settling into place as a post-Trump religious movement that supports neo-fascist brutality at the end of American Empire.

I'd take him more seriously if the Catholic Church distributed it's
immense wealth.
I used to write the WaPo editorials on US-Africa policy, as well on as human rights and politics on the continent.
To describe hundreds of thousands of deaths on the continent as “messy” is an absolute abomination.
I lived there for 10 years and it's definitely true. BUT it also leans pretty heavily Republican so this is a big deal
I do wonder at what point we will stop talking about prevention and begin focusing on what mediation is possible. Because we're not going to prevent climate change. That much is clear now. If we have not yet passed the tipping point, we are set to do so before we get our collective sh*t together.
We're returning home. And you have been terrible guests here. You have an obligation to Tribal Nations to help restore, protect, and assist our efforts as we lead to heal our land.
You can't just give us it back trashed, without giving us time, attention, and resources.
But today, I celebrate.
Oh, absolutely. They're horrible human beings who did terrible things because they wanted to. It's just amazing they did not realize how thoroughly they were set up by their idols.
I don't particularly have any empathy for them but they were absolutely set up to take the fall for this. Everyone but them knew what would happen.
And once Musk had access to all the data he wanted, they dropped the whole thing with barely an explanation
"the US government has been remade into a tool for the immediate satisfaction of his wants and desires no matter how absurd or nihilistic they may be." Dark realism from @davidrlurie.com

I am asking this question in good faith as I am not a scientist. Is there actually anything we could do to stop from reaching 1.5 C in the next 9 months? Even if we shut down the entire world, wouldn't the feedback loops already in place force us over that limit?
He might be shocked to learn who my most high maintenance with a ridiculous order customers were 🤷
The nature of war has been changed by the genocide in Gaza. The status of hospitals, medics, journalists, aid workers, churches and residential buildings has been changed by repeated, unpunished violations. We’ve entered a dark chapter for the whole world.
Ok, but I absolutely understand her point about fresh restaurant style ranch vs the disgusting sludge that comes in bottles. When I worked in a restaurant we used to cut up entire heads of lettuce and just stand there dunking it in ranch whenever we could find a moment to eat
We're not protecting the beer you absolute numpty
Yep, the tear gas led to very compelling viral images. Frankly it's disturbing that without those optics people elsewhere are "eh it's fine then"
I mean, if the question is whether he's capable of it, I think that answer is a resounding yes
They did not shoot a white person though, as far as I'm aware. That's why it broke through.
From Walz's response I doubt it
Does anyone with remotely any amount of leverage have a plan beyond some combo of?:
- wait it out for midterms
- handful of GOPers miraculously grow a soul
- it happens
Every single person needs to read this piece by @andreapitzer.bsky.social.
It's important that we truly contend with the concentration camp reality in America. Every single word here is backed up with facts and historical analysis.
As always: something sounding extreme doesn't mean it isn't real.
Protester sprayed with chemical irritant while agents pinned him to the ground Protesters gathered on Blaisdell Avenue in south Minneapolis between 28th and 29th streets after federal agents detained two teenagers, according to witnesses. Protesters were shouting and tensions escalated before agents began detaining observers like the man seen below, who was pinned to the ground when a federal agent sprayed a chemical irritant directly into his face.
Is it @startribune.com policy to refer to anyone confronting ICE as a protester? This obscures the nature of what people are doing. We're not protesting ICE. We're constitutional observers documenting human rights abuses by agents of the state.
Dem leadership will be screaming "Don't take the bait!" all the way to their prison cell.
A competent opposition political party would cut together the footage of what ICE had been doing in the twin cities with Mike Johnson saying "ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do" and have it in ads all across the country
Unfortunately, this is the part where I remind people that Black 10th graders get beat up by cops every day.
This is the part where I remind people about modern civil asset forfeiture, where US police steal more value from people (mostly Black) than every form of theft other than wage theft.
Nah, mostly he's just arresting protesters for making too much noise
I think they're trying to incite a riot
Did they release this to start a riot because that's the only way this helps them
