🦇 Happy #BatAppreciationDay! Bats matter across the UK and around the world. Bat species play a vital role in ecosystems, from agricultural land to tropical forests. They pollinate plants, disperse seeds and eat insects which damage crops.

It's paperback publication day!
The Arctic melt has changed the world forever and nearly everyone Megan loves is dead. She is put in an institution and her only hope is to persuade Jay to help her escape.
Finalist in the Book Edit Writer's Prize, Overspill is available NOW

No mention of actions to make streets safe for disabled women walking, wheeling or cycling either, in terms of social safety, via mandating safe accessible infrastructure, or mobility aids that are legal for use - and I'm in the video (but without audio)!
I'm really excited that the paperback edition of Overspill is out in a couple of weeks. It's a crip #Cli-Fi vision of #Liverpool and #Dublin in an all too possible near future. Order direct from @srlpublishing.bsky.social to get a tree planted, or from your local #IndieBookshop.

Image of letter sent to Prime Minister Keir Starmer by the Green MPs and Peers. Letter begins: Dear Prime Minister, We are writing as Green Party MPs and Peers to express our alarm at the UK’s involvement in the illegal US-Israeli war on Iran. Already well over 1,000 civilians have been killed, including a reported 168 children killed by a missile now widely believed to be from the United States (Guardian, 2026). UNICEF has reported that the Israeli military's assault on Lebanon is killing or injuring the equivalent of one classroom of children every day (Reuters, 2026). In addition to the grave humanitarian impacts, the longer this illegal, unnecessary war continues, the greater the global economic fallout – to which the UK is particularly exposed because it remains heavily reliant on fossil fuels. Read the rest of the letter on the Green Party website at: https://greenparty.org.uk/2026/03/20/green-mps-and-peers-demand-end-to-uk-involvement-in-illegal-us-israel-war/
Second page of letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer from the Green MPs and Peers. Read the full letter on the Green Party website at: https://greenparty.org.uk/2026/03/20/green-mps-and-peers-demand-end-to-uk-involvement-in-illegal-us-israel-war/
The Green MPs and Peers have written to Keir Starmer to urge for an end to the UK's involvement in the US and Israel's illegal war.
Under international law, the UK is obliged to have no involvement in illegal military action, including the use of UK bases and UK-made weapons.

Graphic titled “We think people using mobility aids should be allowed to get away from danger at running speed” A young woman using a manual wheelchair with a power attachment is under a streetlight in the dark. There are a group of people standing just outside the light, looking threatening or at least intimidating. The woman’s eyes are wide with fright. At the bottom, hashtag MobilityJustice and the Wheels for Wellbeing logo
All Disabled people should be legally able to speed up to "running" or "cycling"-equivalent speeds to get out of danger, whatever mobility devices we're using, at all times of day and night, and wherever we are travelling.

Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..
Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.
This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.
44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.
Happy International Women’s Day #IWD2026, after another 12 months of men doing such a great job of ruling across the globe….
photograph showing a space where one tree used to be, one half cut down with two branches remaining, and the final tree with ropes around it and the cutting work just beginning.
My neighbours had three beautiful trees in their garden, bordering mine, that provided a habitat for a number of bird and animal species and created a gorgeous canape of green. Yesterday they had them all chopped down. I'm heartbroken. What is it with humans and killing things?
The best result possible and it wasn't even a close contest in the end. Congratulations to Hannah. I'm looking forward to weeks of hyperbole from the BBC about the Greens forming the next government, the same as there would have been if Reform won with 41% of the vote.
Hannah Spencer: councillor, plumber, greyhound lover and the only candidate who can beat Reform in Gorton & Denton today 💚
Time for the much more serious allegations against him to be investigated too
Drawing of a snowy scene with bike wheel and cog shaped snow falling across happy snow people riding six different wheeled mobility devices. From top left: Two snow people riding a tandem mobility scooter. The rear rider has tight fitting dark glasses; A snow person riding a sit-on e-scooter wearing a glamorous matching purple ball gown and fascinator, with a parasol; A snow person riding a recumbent tadpole trike, towing a child trailer with a small snow person inside; A snow person wearing punk clothes using a manual wheelchair and e-assist handcycle attachment; A snow person using a powerchair, smiling into a single-wheel pram clipped to the front of their chair; Two snow people in matching blue bobble hats and scarves riding a side-by-side tandem cycle and cuddling each other. Title reads "wishing everyone their ideal wheels in 2026" and has the Wheels for Wellbeing logo in the top right corner.
There's no single mobility aid that works for everyone.
That's why we'll keep working to help make a world where all #Disabled people can use their ideal wheels to get around.
Wishing everyone their ideal wheels in 2026!
The government’s “independent” spending watchdog has refused to explain why it removed figures from its crucial budget forecast report that proved spending on social security is not spiralling out of control.

Cycling is for all and we are stronger for our diversity. Wheels for Wellbeing have a diverse staff team, are proud to join the Pride Ride and echo others in calling for @cyclinguk.bsky.social to reconsider their decision next year.
We are however disappointed at the exclusion this year of the many trans and non-binary individuals who contribute hugely to our communities.
We are thrilled our very own Katie Renker has been named as a Cycle Influencer in Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2025.

A black woman on a red upright tricycle cycling in a cycle lane. The cycle has a basket in which is a blue bag. She is wearing a black helmet, yellow long-sleeved top and a purple high vis jacket. Behind her is a red bus, yellow and green ambulance and a green van. In the far background are houses.
Wheels for Wellbeing are concerned by reports that the Chancellor is considering putting a maximum price for cycles allowed through the Cycle to Work scheme.
We are calling for the scheme to be reformed rather than capped.

Zag Daily's list of 100 Mobility Changemakers has been published. There are loads of great people on the list but it's a real shame none of the Disabled people leading accessible transport campaigns or the Disabled People's Organisations delivering change in the UK have been included.

A graphic with a red and orange gradient background featuring bold yellow and red text that reads: “Carla Denyer MP writes to Rachel Reeves to call for an end to ‘scandal’ of tax breaks for oil and gas companies.” Below, there is an image of a letter addressed to Rachel Reeves MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, from Carla Denyer MP. To the right of the letter, a quote reads: “Use the budget to end financial support to fossil fuel production and fund a workers transition package.”
Did you know the government spends £2.7 billion a year on tax breaks for oil & gas companies?
I've written to Rachel Reeves to tell her to end this scandal: stop propping up declining oil & gas companies and back workers instead

Also worth contemplating that this was the "news" paper that used to publish photographs of topless 16 and 17 year old girls...
can't think of a headline that better sums up the BBC at present

A horrific attack with witnesses describing people running down the train and hiding in toilets to escape. I hope there were no #disabled people on board as they would have no means of escape. Crises always reveal the lack of emergency egress for disabled people.

What an absolutely amazing event!!
Fantastic to see such a great turnout and so many people supporting this important campaign to make cycling safer for women, and therefore for everyone!
