My friend and I had a running gag as teens in Minneapolis. Every time we saw a limo, one of us would say "Hey, it's Prince."

In 2003, Film Score Monthly released Lalo Schifrin's wonderful score, mixed with the incredible sound design of Walter Murch and dialog & sounds from the film. THX-1138 is one of a handful of films (like Blade Runner, Eraserhead or Shinya Tsukomoto's Tetsuo: The Iron Man) that's listenable by itself

THX-1138 is one of my all time favorite films. The low budget made Lucas make some interesting creative decisions, which he completely erased when re-editing it decades later, adding CGI/SFX that were unnecessary and annoying. And, like OG Star Wars, he's kept the original out-of-print ever since.

Great video on the history and background of George Lucas' 1971 film THX-1138, and the 'lost version' (easily found on Archive dot org if you know how to look for stuff).

How the death of middlebrow culture led to Trump's barbarism - Salon.com All the cool people hated middle-class suburban culture — but it looks a lot better compared to what came next

"Hence the plethora of comic book studies courses at universities today."

Go fuck yourself, you pompous dickhead. Is that middlebrow enough for you?

They appear to still be in business but closed at that hour. I plan to go back soon before the mall's closed for good.

different condition descriptions for a record I want to buy.
"vomit is gone?, residue still on the cover"
"plastic sleeve fused to the rubber vomit."
"...no vomit! sorry! some wear/tearing where vomit was."
"Vomit disintegrated years ago, so I removed since it was about to ruin the ajoining LP."

I know, it's done to death but if President Biden had blundered his way into a needless war that then left US service members stranded in hostile waters with food supplies running low, the right would've stormed the White House to tar and feather him

my crowning achievement was Meätshürt, rap metal band. I even created a shitty band logo modeled after those stupid Affliction t-shirts that were everywhere for a while. If I find the graphic again, I'll post it.

Actually, I know next to nothing about Shinedown or their music. It was just my idea of a punchline. A fellow music fanatic and I used to love making up stupid portmanteau names of imaginary shitty millennium-era FM rock station fodder bands and Shinedown was the default model.

I made this early in tRump's first term. If the language seems simplististic, my original intent was to leave them in places where fundie people might find them in the manner of a wartime leaflet.
Seems weirdly appropriate right now.

Google shows a Ron Short who's an Elvis impersonator. It would be great if it was a same person & he performed stunts with his collapsing shoulder blades &/or reenacts what COULD HAVE BEEN.
(I'm going to lie down now)

apparently my brain's full of junk info. The collarboneless gentleman - Ron Short - OFFERED to help, as he could collapse his shoulder blades, but the person who went down the well & rescued Baby Jessica was an EMT Robert O'Donnell. I guess his moment to shine was not to be, but my version's funnier

Maybe this says more about my stupid, stupid brain, but the thing that always stuck in my mind in the Baby Jessica case was that there was a guy born without collarbones just sitting by his phone and someone suddenly remembered him and rang him up. I think about this often.
