Map of the contiguous United States showing the spring bloom index anomaly as of April 19, 2026 from the USA National Phenology Network. Many areas are earlier than normal.

Aside from Florida, nearly the entire contiguous U.S. has experienced earlier than average first plant blooms in 2026. Earlier springs can cause longer allergy seasons, accelerate wildfire risk, increase pests/mosquitoes, and lead to less reliable snow-fed water.

The Warehouse, in Plain Sight That concrete box off the freeway wasn’t designed for storage so much as capture. It’s a disappearing machine. We need to see it clearly.

That concrete box off the freeway wasn’t designed for storage so much as capture β€” of markets, workers, and, now, people detained by immigration agents, as the federal government turns warehouses into million-square-foot concentration camps.

It is a disappearing machine. We need to see it clearly.

I disagree - but with many games, the play is something that is generated by the player from a rich set of affordances. with puzzles, the play exists in the tension between the designer's intent and the player rediscovering that. it's a dialogue where one side has written their part in advance.

I do find it amusing that out of all the shit Elon did to Twitter, the thing it took to actually trigger a mass migration was Trump becoming President of the United States again

Wish I had had room to talk about Saving a Dragonfly in my TIDF article. It hasn't left my mind since seeing it. It's astonishing that it is a first feature.
