No disrespect to Paul Simon btw. The performances are a wonderful time capsule to watch. But it is absolutely not the revolutionary comedy giant it is touted to be…yet

Paul Simon hosts the second episode and it is nearly ALL straightforward musical performances, very little comedy or skits to be found. Tell the boomers this when they say the show was never better than it’s early years. The 90s was absolutely better than this first season

Watching Saturday Night Live from its very beginning is such a trip. Everyone calls this the golden age of SNL. It is absolutely not. They have no idea what they are doing. The skits are clunky, and you can see there’s a shine that just isn’t polished out yet
