A black bear and a cub stand on moss-covered rocks in a lush green forest. A quote overlay readss: "I really want to see the Mulchatna caribou herd grow and thrive, but this unscientific and cruel approach of killing every bear in sight across southwest Alaska can’t be the way forward.” It is attributed to Cooper Freeman, Alaska director.
We just filed an emergency legal motion today alongside Alaska Wildlife Alliance seeking to prevent the state from killing an unlimited number of brown and black bears across roughly 40,000 square miles in southwest #Alaska this summer.

The LNG we import in Europe is far from clean.
Visible methane plumes at US gas sites rated “grade A” resulting in much higher upstream emissions.
Auditors don’t measure emissions — they review operator data that studies show is massively understated.

"Protecting pumas does more than help one species. Mountain lions go where other wildlife go. When we take care of their habitat, we help bears, bobcats, raptors, badgers, songbirds and beetles," writes Tiffany Yap, our urban wildlands science director in an #OpEd for @calmatters.org ⬇️
The world added 814 GW of wind and solar in 2025, increasing the total installation of the sum of both by 24%, from 3,360 GW to 4,174 GW, in just one year.
New wind in '25: 167 GW (new total ~1,300 GW)
New solar in '25: 647 GW (new total ~2,900 GW)

Forcing the Sable pipelines to restart will NOT lower gas prices, but it WILL expose coastal wildlife to the risk of another oil spill.

Big Oil companies are lobbying Congress to put them above the law.
@govjayinslee.bsky.social joined @waytooearly.bsky.social to sound the alarm on why the public’s ability to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for its climate lies must be protected.
Big Oil companies have lied for DECADES about the "catastrophic" dangers of their fossil fuel products, and are now "afraid of being held to account for their own lies," says @govjayinslee.bsky.social.
Big Oil must not be above the law.
Why has the U.S. rejected cheap, plentiful electricity in favor of coal, oil, and gas? Because a dozen billionaires who own oil companies have made it so, contrary to the will of a majority of Americans.
If that doesn’t make us a petrostate, I don’t know what does.
I think this is right. China is all-in on solar, batteries, etc., while the U.S. is absolutely refusing to leave the 20th century. Once you dig up and burn a barrel of oil or a ton of coal, it's gone—you've gotta dig up more. Solar panels will produce power for decades.
We're going to get wrecked.
Spain invested heavily in clean energy over the last 6 years. Now, as gas prices rise, Spain has some of the lowest electricity costs on the continent.
In August 2025, Spain used zero coal — just 10 years ago it powered 25% of the country.
This is what energy independence actually looks like. 🌎
This looks like a complicated chart, but in fact it's some of the simplest and best news imaginable: batteries are quickly turning night into noon. Worth a read if I say so myself

Energy density has also more than tripled since the 1990s, meaning batteries can now store far more energy for their volume.
The half-a-million-dollar battery was never going to transform transport. The $5,000 battery is.

Line chart of representative lithium-ion battery cell prices in US dollars per kilowatt-hour from 1991 to 2024, where prices fall steeply, declining about 99% from roughly $9,200 per kilowatt-hour in 1991 to about $78 per kilowatt-hour in 2024. ✍️ New article: Battery costs have declined by 99% in the last three decades, making electrified transport a reality—
Over 20 million electric cars were sold globally in 2025 — some for as little as $10,000. Even just two decades ago, that would have been impossible.
The reason it's possible now?
Since 2008, a federal rule has shielded #endangered #whales from extinction.
The North Atlantic right whale vessel speed rule requires most vessels 65 ft and longer to slow to 10 knots (in certain areas, at certain times).
Now the Trump admin. wants to get rid of it.

The EPA “violated its duty” to protect Americans from harmful products and a Bayer victory at the Supreme Court would only further the “deadly” consequences of inconsistent and inadequate warnings, said Nathan Donley, environmental health science director for the Center for Biological Diversity.
Banging on this that batteries met up to 44% of demand on the CA grid yesterday, roughly equivalent to 6 hoover dams. Cheap batteries are powering the grid. www.linkedin.com/posts/nicola...

Did you know that the clean energy industry generates strong employment growth? Globally, 34.8 million people now work in clean energy sectors, compared with 32.6 million in fossil fuel industries (Source: IEA 2024).

The bottom line from this new research paper: Living near an oil, gas, or biofuel refinery is bad for your health. Stronger measures are needed to protect the health of people living in communities near refineries.
My 2 cents: Let's transition to clean energy & shut down these pollution factories.
Projections show that critical lakes and reservoirs in the Colorado River Basin could reach catastrophically low levels by mid-2027, according to Taylor McKinnon, our the #southwest director at the Center for Biological Diversity.
A court just ruled that permits to build in #Florida wetlands should stay in the hands of federal regulators, not the state 🎉🐊🐢
The ruling upholds a 2020 decision that the EPA and Fish and Wildlife violated the #ESA when they approved Florida’s wetlands permitting program in 2020.

How incredible: “The full delivery took about 30 minutes. For hours afterward, pairs of whales held the baby above the water until it was able to swim…
What struck the researchers was how many mother, sister and daughter whales united to support the new calf, even ones that weren’t related.”
On CBS Los Angeles talking about Sable Offshore, alongside Alex Katz from EDC, on how ramping up offshore oil in California will have NO effect on gas prices.
At best, it will add to 0.05% global production.
At worst, we’ll have yet another spill from this corroded pipeline.
