Thank you very much for your feedback and for your understanding. Given the very few responses to my post (and everything else), I’ve decided to take the feed down.

The Organic Gardening Feed isn’t getting all that many views but it costs me time (for moderation) and money (for the service provider/those costs will increase quite a bit soon).

I’m not sure if it’s worth keeping this up. What do you think? Do you read this feed?

I thought the feather freezing was a myth. At least I read that in a German book written by a biologist. I tried to find scientific sources, but research seems to be scarce on that topic.

At least for mild frosts I've seen birds bathe and fly away just fine. Not sure about hard frosts, though.

Ideally one that provides the soil nutrients that the tree needs and your soil lacks. (That would require soil testing, of course.) You might not even need to use any fertilizer at all.

Organic fertilizer improves the soil as well as feeding the tree, so that would be my general recommendation.
