Protecting American Energy From State Overreach By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered: Section 1.  Purpose.

Old enough to remember when my Republican friends would frame everything around state's rights.

I think some of us have forgotten that "First they came" doesn't start at the end of the poem.

The NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER added the EDITOR OF THE ATLANTIC to a PRINCIPALS COMMITTEE TEXT CHAIN set up for the DEFENSE SECRETARY about PLANNED MILITARY STRIKES.

Here's a thread of involved parties talking about the need for secure communications (when Dems are involved):

With the way these are falling apart on their own, maybe they should start with their own QA leaders.

i feel so much rage whenever people try to justify LLM use in art by saying well what about disabled people?

disabled people make art every day. they often do utilize tools to help them create. but they don't need a machine to make art for them, and that's all an LLM can do for a writer.

MAHA Is a Fraud America has never been healthier. Going backwards is going to mean more people getting sick and dying.

“Less medical research, a pull-back on life-saving vaccines, turning away from science and embracing folk medicine.

Make America Healthy Again.

Again.

Meaning: America used to be ‘healthy’ and now is not.

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.”

wow, they released the files and it turns out JFK was still alive until just a few years ago, living in an old folks home in rural Texas alongside Elvis Presley

Minor quibble. I wish journalists would stop calling the Alien Enemies Act an "obscure" act, and start referring to it as the act that led to the most shameful widespread imprisonment of American citizens in the 20th century.

Scientists have conceivably just cured the deadliest of cancers.

And we're throwing away all this means and could be in the name of politics, fear, and control.

What the actual fuck.

There are many things that have made America great.

I spend my days editing a book about the slow accumulation of American institutions that made the global dollar possible. Periodically I take breaks to read about how we’re setting those institutions on fire.

Scott came to me about 7 months ago: "what if we got as many big name creators & newcomers to write one page stories, and then I illustrated them??" I thought he was out of his mind. Then the book grew from 2, to 50, to 80+ stories.

So, I still think so, but man, is the end result mind-blowing.

A small box truck with an electronic billboard sign on the sides urging fired federal workers to contact ProPublica with tips.

A small box truck with an electronic billboard sign on the sides urging fired federal workers to contact ProPublica with tips.

When @propublica.org reporters Brett Murphy & @annamaria.bsky.social found out that fired #USAID workers could go to the office one last time to clean out their desks, they pitched this crazy idea. What if we rented a billboard truck to advertise how to get in touch with @propublica.org? So we did.
