Yes!!! Sam understood the importance of dynamics. Now that I hear it, I don’t know what Bob Marley would’ve sounded like without that influence if I’m being honest.
You tomorrow:
You were spot on! I had to think about it for a sec, but they have a lot many similarities! Redemption Song was the first that came to mind. Marley really stretches his legs vocally in that emptiness. Sam Cooked in moments like that…
I know where the door is 🚶🏾♂️
It’s interesting, cause before THIS scene ‘Elsbeth’ wasn’t really tapping into what made the character worthy of a spinoff show in the first place imo. Quirkiness & whimsy sure but she was a calculating, ruthless lawyer on The Good Wife/Fight who lost to her own morality, not the court of law.
All in all, Season 18 had some incredible Juicy Love Dion shows. (That Ruveal was EVERYTHING!) With no true villain narrative that stuck, the success of this season depended on the quality of the queens. A balanced season has conflict, fun, and a through line that makes sense. S18 had 75% of each.
I can’t help but compare recent seasons of RPDR proper to those of Canada & UK. Specifically Canada, without Rachel Tension herself, showing how you adapt to your audience without compromising the spirit of the show. (Seriously, checkout Canada’s Drag Race.)
Season 18: Expect The Expected. An inoffensive season doing more right than wrong. The wrong, however, Ruvealing what happens when good casting meets bored producers.
Nini Coco played the little joker with that back-hand spring however, Myki Meeks stuck that BFA to her forehead and saved the best for last Nymphia Wind style. A lesson in playing the Drag Race game competently. CONDRAGULATIONS!
Me looking at Darlene’s ruveal look:
