Frankly I'm so tired of the constant dismissal of how sexism plays a role in harassment of creators

Yes everyone deals with online harassment no one says that's not true, but when a person is fem they notably get much more vitriolic/demeaning comments that are 100000% because of their gender

My one hope is that this mainstreams more people to a circular economy/flipping/no buy-low buy/free cycle kind of thing. But the raw materials still have to come from somewhere on a lot of that, especially for restored or reworked items.

Probably. It’s part of why I’ve shifted to custom items and local brands more. I still want to have secondhand stuff as much as possible but like, the supply chains are unreliable and the import fees make it hard to keep prices reasonable and still have good margins.

Not to get all “as a small business owner” but literally as a small business owner, it’s infuriating. It’s another handout for big corporations at the expense of small businesses who work in smaller MOQs (or individually source items like me), and it continues to screw consumers.

Yeah or like, Walmart (whatever your big box of choice) paying extra import fees on idk garden hoses can file a claim. But iirc it has to be over a certain amount and individual consumers getting hit with $15-200 at a time can’t. Plus it’s not like the corps are gonna lower prices.

The resolution of the lawsuits are that companies can claim refunds but individual consumers are still screwed.

Today’s first album is BOØWY’s Moral + 3 (2022; remaster of the 1982). Just really solid 1980s does 1950s New Wave. Also I’m gonna learn some of these cause the guitar lines make me less crazy than early/mid-period X. Like they’re clever without making my fingers bleed just hearing them.

Apparently there’s a national shortage of tailors such that FIT is starting up a 9 month tailoring certificate program (9 months is not enough) to meet demand. As a tailor, I run a secondhand shop cause no one wants to pay what a tailor is worth.

I feel like another batch of frozen curry prep is in order. I’ll throw a carrot and it’ll be a party.

We still have 2 bags of onions and two bags of potatoes so for dinner tonight I am having An Onion and A Potato. (I had other things too, but I and specifically eating the onions and potatoes.)
