Yes. Sad times. Every day I move further and further beyond the point of no regrets for having sadly dropped the Post and happily subscribed to the Guardian. No billionaire owner, no main HQ under compromised jurisdiction, no cowardly quashing of reporting and editorials based in facts and ethics.

Dang. Glad I finally unsubscribed yesterday after having hung on for so long in a feeble, seemingly over-optimistic, and evidently futile attempt to keep supporting the true journalists at the LA Times despite the paper’s seemingly craven and ethically unmoored owner. What a sad turn of events.

Yes. Dismaying. After quashed endorsement, etc., I had hung on as a long-time subscriber in hopes of helping to support LAT journalists in some tiny way; but the owner’s statements in that piece were the last straw, and I unsubscribed. Happy to see that you, @hiltzikm.bsky.social, et al. are here.

Hoping these “Ten Great Public Health Achievements — United States, 1900–1999” somehow survive the next four years of federal health leadership, even if this CDC web page may not.

Bluesky as the Ship of Theseus Maybe, just this once, we *can* have nice things online.

Here's my proper "Bluesky has the juice!" take:

Bluesky is the Ship of Theseus.

Piece by piece, they have acquired and refashioned all the essential parts of old-Twitter.

The pieces still missing are the ones that we were ultimately better off without.
