Morrison's videos? Yes he has some very useful things, using it quite a lot in my class

If "better poster" doesn't work, and "wall of text" doesn't work, what does?
I'm teaching a presentation course now and I focus quite a lot on the "better poster" format. As described in MM's video is a bit extreme, but there are many lessons from there to make actually better posters imho

What happened to Mike Morrison's "Better Poster"? I used to see this design occasionally several years ago, but in recent conferences it's back to 99% "wall of text" style. Did we forget about this amazing thing?

The Guardian is indistinguishable from Nazi propaganda these days. Nothing that we didn’t already know, but this is next level.

I'm writing a paper on oxygen fugacity and it has a figure that looks like this.

I apologise in advance.

I was always strongly against preprints, for many reasons. This was a very unpopular opinion in the good old bird site days, and when I said that I got weird looks from everyone.
I still think preprints are awful, and they're not getting any better.

I asked him whether he'd like to volunteer to do those runs, and he was very keen.

And yes, everyone gets to see our biggest tourist attraction!

Non-alkali metals titrate silica out of carbonatite melts into insoluble silicate minerals | Michael Anenburg 💡New paper and a small story of bewilderment and discovery. The amount of antisemitism I’m seeing here, even from fellow earth scientists I have interacted with quite a lot in the old Twitter days, is disappointing.

How do you get copper in post-subduction porphyry deposits? You flush ancient sulfide cumulates with deeper oxidised magmas!

No matter how far you zoom in it's all sharp corners. Any finite stretch along the x-axis becomes a terrible mouth lined with infinite teeth. Every pointed sliver opens up into a thousand hungry little razors.

Mathematicians were aghast. (5/n)

And he then *asked himself a question* which he then answered for a further 3-4 minutes before finally getting off the stage. I can't even remember what the talk was about.

What an ass.
