For what it’s worth, he’s actually only played 1 List A game.
But I’m not sure how much that will affect the Australian selectors decision.
He’s incredibly talented and can clearly play an attacking brand of cricket.

Tough competition for a spot, but with Short’s injury (not sure the extent of it) and JFM’s lack of form recently, I think there’s a way into the squad at least.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he got the nod ahead of the Champions Trophy.
Gonna make a bold prediction and say that Sam Konstas will open the batting for Australia in the Champions Trophy with Head.
Australia’s own Bethell, rapid rise to the top and very talented
He’s clearly made a good impression & is well liked by the core of the group.
3 sides can still qualify for the WTC final! I explain how in this video! Check it out with the link below!
He does, style of player who just explodes on the international circuit. He’s a bit of a late bloomer I guess, but he is sure taking his chance
Sadly haven’t managed to catch much of the South Africa vs Pakistan game. But what a debut from Corbin Bosch.
5-61 in the first innings with the ball, he bowls genuinely quick. 81* off 93 in the second innings with the bat.
Surprised he’s taken this long to play test cricket.
He’s only played 6 tests, hasn’t fully kicked on in that format yet, and has an average of 26.91. But three 50s is an encouraging sign and his best is yet to come.
His dynamism in white ball cricket at the top of the order adds quality for Pakistan.
Unreal talent!
Saim Ayub is a star in the making. His record in the ODI series vs. South Africa was:
235 runs @ 78.33 with 2 centuries and a highest score of 109.
A dynamic opener, classic left-handed elegance thought the covers and can score 360°.
A superb prospect in all 3 formats!
Top 6 & Rashid set in stone, depending on if they want an extra spinner, more batting or another quick will dictate who bats 7, but I think Livi will be first choice.
Quicks will definitely rotate, it’ll be interesting to see if Archer and Wood play together or are rotated
I was surprised with that early announcement for the Champions Trophy squad. It looks quite strong I think. Think the team will be:
Salt
Duckett
Root
Bethell
Brook
Buttler
Livingstone/Smith
Carse/Overton
Archer/Wood
Atkinson/Mahmood
Rashid
England’s Champions Trophy squad has been announced! I made a video on my thoughts, which you can find below!
I thought Carse was England’s best test player of the winter. I look at why in this video!

"The Inevitability of Steve Smith" was a fun one to write, on one of my all-time favourite players. Fantastic knock, long may it continue.

After speaking about Connolly as my one to watch for the Scorchers on my Substack, it was nice to see him performing.
He’s been given a more senior role and stepped up superbly today, with 64 off 51 balls batting 3 and taking 1/18 off 2 obers.
Excited to see how he improves!
A new post is live on my substack now! I look at one player to watch out for from each team in BBL14! Check it out via the link below!
I think James Rew could be England’s next long term opener. I explain why in this video! Click the link to check it out!
Definitely, he scored 18 off 22 for the Lions so the intent was there, just not the weight of runs. They also have a big chase on their hands in the second innings
Yep he has a great technique for it too so I wouldn’t be opposed to it.
With Bethell, Brook & Smith in the middle order competition for places is tough so Rew at the top of the order makes sense in many ways
I noticed James Rew opened in the England Lions game. This likely means:
1. There were not enough openers on the tour, maybe there are no openers the ECB rate
OR
2. The ECB think Rew's best chance of getting into the test side is as an opener
OR
3. It could be a coincidence
Fergus O’Neill is Notts-bound!
So excited to see him in the County Championship, one of my favourite up and coming bowlers in red ball cricket and a I think certainty to play for Australia one day!
I made a TikTok on him and his profile!
You know what I love about Root, is how every 100 still means so much to him. You can just tell in his celebrations and the grin on his face he loves scoring runs. It’s so good to see!
That is the perfect delivery from Cummins to dismiss Rohit.
Angles in to the India captain, hits the seam and nips away hitting top of off.
Perfect ball, fantastic bowling from the Australian skipper!
What a year of test cricket for Atkinson:
-Test debut at Lords
-Test hundred at Lords scoring 118
-Three 5fers including 7/45
-One 10fer with figures if 12/106
-One hattrick
Superb cricketer, going to be key for England for many years! 🔥
The other is via the link below! This is on Mitchell Starc and his pink ball record. It’s quite a good record to say the least!
I made a couple of new TikTok videos today after a short break due to feeling unwell! One of them you can find here, a video on Harry Brook’s remarkable record in NZ!
I also made a new TikTok today, looking at 3 things we learnt from the first test between New Zealand and England this week! Check it out via the link!
I’m a little late to the party but I wrote a review on the IPL Mega Auction!
I tried a slightly different style of writing for this piece, something more conversational, and I’m happy with how it turned out!
You can check the piece out with the link below!
Spinner would still be an issue, I hope Rehan gets more of a chance but I’d still probably lean towards Leach for the time being.
I hope Mahmood can be in a position to go to Australia because:
Atkinson
Potts
Carse
Mahmood
Archer
Wood
Is a really strong quick bowling unit to take down under. Feels like that’s a fast bowling unit that can blow a side out of the water. Exciting
Carse maiden test 5fer, I am absolutely delighted. Phenomenal bowler, glad he’s getting the appreciation he deserves. He’ll be a key figure of this side for the next few years
Been a fan of his for many years domestically, wanted his chance to come at this level and I’m so glad it has. Mint bowler
